Got it.

Porsche Bellingham. I am thinking of windshield as well since I have had a few incidents (rocks/gravel flying on WA 520) with my current car and had to replace the windshield once in 3 years of ownership. Luckily I had bought windshield protection when I originally purchased the car.
Have you talked to Porsche Bellingham about the PPF yet? I believe they can do it for you and have it ready by the time you pickup your car from what I heard. For the windshield, I planned to go through my own insurance ($100 deductible), done it before with my Tesla.

Scratch that. The Glovis Clipper is burning time by drifting around offshore at 1-2knots of speed. I am guessing that they will simpy burn time until their assigned arrival/unloading slot as opposed to trying to get an earlier one.
One last update, which is also a complaint about Porsche Track Your Dream, and more specifically about the seemingly random TYD dates, which - here's the part that newly surprised me - can change retroactively, and to the wrong dates.

Looking at TYD this morning, the dates for already-completed steps have changed, and they have changed from accurate to inaccurate:
  • Entry Port: 27 December (was actually 23 December, and until today TYD had it right. So the date shown in TYD changed after the fact, and to the wrong date.)
  • Port Processing: 27 December (was actually 24 December, which up to today was correctly shown)
  • En Route to Dealer: 26 December (was 27 December)
  • Arrival at Dealer: 27 December (accurate!)
  • Estimated time until dealer arrival: 16 Days (So TYD says my Taycan arrived yesterday, and will arrive in 16 days. Huh?)
I love the concept of TYD. But someone seriously needs to fix it.

2022 Taycan Turbo (Sold)
My car arrived at the port in San Diego on the 21st. At the time nothing on the dealership’s end indicated it would be held at the port but as of today it’s on hold; waiting for a Burmester amp. Other Taycans (both 2022 and 2023) on the Glovis Clipper already made it to the dealership in SD. They said that about half the cars (~10) that they were waiting on from the Glovis Clipper are held at the port currently.

Porsche Taycan December 2022 Deliveries C72892D4-0F8B-42A6-9F35-89FFBDF5AD7A

Just snuck in under the wire for December delivery. Did PPF at the dealer so that delayed this for a week.

Doing ceramic tomorrow, so gonna be without it for a bit longer but it’s been 14 months since the deposit so what’s a couple more days…

After a very long wait of nearly a year, Taycan GTS arrived in Benicia on the Glovis Clipper 23 December, delivered 29 December.

Porsche Taycan December 2022 Deliveries car-small

The dealer (Porsche Marin) has been a great partner, but things did get briefly tense near the end when they presented the list of $20,000 worth of options they would love for me to buy from them, including a $12,000 full body protection wrap. There is of course no harm in asking, and I did fork over a good sized chunk of change for a wheel/tire/windshield/dent/whatever protection package, but the sketchy part was the $1,000 StarGard GPS tracker option that was already installed and was not optional - but was never previously mentioned. I gently said that I did not want it, so please remove it, and then I just stopped talking. They began by re-delivering the sales pitch, and the "already installed" excuse, but - against my simple silence - eventually convinced themselves that removing it from the sale was a good idea. This took maybe three minutes total, but was not pleasant.

More importantly, the car is a joy!

First, NICE CAR! Mine is still in a Germany port but hopefully coming soon.

About your experience, personally I loathe but can deal with pushy sales but I would really have a problem if a dealer installed any 3rd party tracking devices in my custom order car without my permission. If it was me I would make sure they note down what 3rd party crap they installed and then removed, and commit in writing they will cover anything that fails which Porsche warranty might attribute to such third party device. I would ask to see the device in person before they remove it and after to make sure there is no sign of it left in the car (and if they drilled anything, they need to replace the damaged panels). You don’t want them just leaving it there and some shady 3rd party company tracking your car, even if it doesn’t cost you anything.

I only once had to deal with similar thing, where a dealer added some crappy trim decals/stickers to my custom car (supposedly to “enhance my car’s lines”) and then tried to charge me $1,000 for it. They tried negotiating down to $800, $400, $0 but I still didn't budge. Made them take it off and then they had to detail the car to get the glue residue off. I would hope they learned their lesson, but I suspect enough people pay for it that they probably kept on doing it.

My car landed in Halifax 8 days ago but I will have to change tread for the January Deliveries one!
Happy new year everyone, wishing you good health and a Taycan Delivery!

Closing the loop on the 9-month journey. Ordered April 2022, Picked up last Sunday…
I know it’s not December anymore but the car did arrive at the dealership in December while I was out of the country.

Nice! There apparently was another Taycan in the showroom with yours. I think I only ever saw a Taycan in that showroom once. Good to know things are getting better. Maybe I will finally start seeing more Taycans around. ? To this day, not counting the dealership parking lot, I have only seen one CT in the wild!
