Has anyone else seen this error message before?

Porsche Taycan Device is not supported; Energy demand too high 20220930_Porsche Taycan Error Message_WCK_0002

About 10 days ago, I started seeing this error message just out of the blue. (There was no precipitating event or change that caused it to start appearing. It just showed up as I was driving down the road.)

For the first two days, it reappeared EVERY MINUTE or so, without fail. This made the PCM pretty much useless, because it always had an error message showing, so I couldn't see the map, etc. Clicking OK on the message makes it go away, but it reappeared about a minute later.

Now it shows up every 10 minutes or so. Sometimes it doesn't show up for an hour. But it always comes back, and its frequency seems to vary a lot now.

I haven't seen any correlation between this error message and the outside temperature, or battery temperature, or charge level (SOC), or speed, or duration of the trip, or anything else. And I think that "Device" in the error message doesn't mean a cell phone, because I tried turning off my phone and the error message still appears. Instead, I think "Device" refers to some internal "virtual" device that's part of the software system.

Any ideas?

just a shot worth trying i think, but to me it sounds like there is something going on with the center console wireless phone charger. Uncheck wireless charging in settings and see if it goes away

Good idea! I'll give that a try and I'll report back. BTW, I don't usually use wireless charging, and I don't put my phone in the center console. But it could have gone haywire on its own.

If anyone else has ideas, send them my way.

My guess is either wireless charging or cable connected device.

Have you maybe just got a new phone?

Or got a memory stick plugged in?

Try rebooting the PCM. If it is an error caused by software, this may help.
