How did your insurance classify the claim? In other words, is it chargeable for a rate increase?
I actually heard back today, they partially approved the supplement from the dealer but not fully. At this point I've offered to make up the difference to get the car fixed and move on.

Let’s avoid politics on a car forum.
We aren’t talking politics. You said you were moving to CA and I asked why you would want to move to a place that is way overpriced, has terrible roads, homeless living all over, all while having the highest taxes in the country. Thousands and thousands have been leaving for the last 4-5 years. You are the first person I’ve seen who has said they are voluntarily moving to CA. I was just wondering why.

I’m sure I will be less crabby once I’m driving it again.
Still waiting mine back from warranty service.. since 19th december year 2023.. starting to be really 'crabby' here.

My list is currently (checks notes) 45 reasons long. None of which are relevant to this forum.

I don't advise the windshield either, it will make you crazy with distortion.

What I am considering, after the repair, is windshield PPF applied to the glass roof for the first 6 inches or so. Wouldn't be visible inside the car, as that area is under the headliner...and might prevent this happening again.

This has happened to me on two different Taycans now, so I consider it an endemic fault of the car.
My CPO had the windshield done by the prior owner. Interestingly two local Xpel dealers said they advise people NOT to do the windshield unless it is a track-only vehicle which is what the product was designed for,

I have the scratch lines from the wipers but no distortions yet. I am able to get rid of most of them with boiling water poured over the affected area but they return with the next wiper use.

The more I read about these types of crazy costs associated with Taycan the more I get dissuaded on buying one. There was another recent post on a minor scratch in the battery shell but Porsche Service suggesting replacing the battery for $50k or so. Some of the regular maintenance also has been quoted around $5k or so for cabin filter change etc. type minor work. All of this goes completely against the notion that EVs overall cost less over their lifetime on maintenance etc. costs. Probably true for T and others but does that really apply to Porsche or just because its Porsche you have to assume its high maintenance?
I had broken glass also thanks to tree

Hi, I had same thing a small tree fell on roof. New roof was 3800€ and fitting 600. (Eurospares) Porsche quoted 10k (9000 glass and 1000 fitting). Glass is attached same as windscreen and attached at 4 points with bolts from memory. Also comes with new rails. It also slots into place so hard to put it in wrong place. Surprising common on today's cars as we all seem to have them now. Ask around windscreen repair/ body shops. Good luck

Also nearly forgot front windscreen has to come out to fit roof, Half will probably break it and that would add about 2000 cost to the repair :(

Yes, that is included in the repair estimate.

Their estimate and the shop's estimate were very far apart.
I see I see. I mean ultimately, the point of insurance is to make you "whole". Sorry that you have to go through this though. The job of the insurance adjusters is to minimize the expenses to the insurance company obviously (not to maximize what you get).

My previous Taycan ALSO took a similar chip! That one wasn't deep enough to crack, though.
Month 1 of Taycan ownership I got a small chip in the pano roof (full body PPF). Thank god it didn't spread in the coming year. As most here know I sold the car in 2023 due to other issues that PCNA failed to address. I'm done worrying about what to do after warranty expiration not to mention deprecation (I got a lot of $ at time of sale) As much as I love the way Taycan drives - I'm happier in one of my 2002 BMW M5 for daily use.

Sorry for your headache. Hope it gets resolved soon.

These crazy parts costs make me realize another oddity. When its time Instead of trading the car to a dealer i will sell the parts in ebay. My perfect condition mission E’s should get me $6-7K. PSCBs with discs $3-4K? $3K for the glass roof another 1K for windshield? $500 for my porsche emblem engraved headrests. $2K for the new working heater? How about my 5K mile PB+ battery 30K? Wait i am already almost at what the dealer offers me for the car and i still have many valuable parts to sell. ?
how crazy times. Isn’t it interesting that a car depreciates this fast but somehow the parts themselves are totally unimpacted by that depreciation.
