Thank you for your explanation of how to start a charging session from the My Porsche app. I have never been able to initiate a charging session through the app.

When I search for and locate the EA station on the map, it does not look like your picture, I see a red square that does not respond to my tapping on it. (See picture).

Do you have any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

There should be a text which says “show charging stations”. Once you press that then it will show the EA station that you can click on

In the other recommendations would be appreciated.
1. In the Porsche app, once you first select the map button, you should then see the charger icon and you must select it. I don't see that charger icon in the clip you posted. (At least in Android).

2. Check your charging service status. First screen on porsche app.
Select account icon at bottom of screen.
Select "charging service".
Should see "charging service ready for charging".
If not, you dont have charging service.

3. Delete and reinstall/update Porsche App if you have not already done so.

Are there other brands of chargers in your area? I understand it wouldn’t be “free” but I don’t understand the logic of abandoning an otherwise outstanding driving vehicle to avert back to ICE. Do you have an arrangement where you’re going to be receiving free gasoline? Otherwise a charging session is cheaper than gas by $40-$80 per fill up depending on vehicle and where you live. Also EA won’t be free much longer for you anyway. Would you purchase an ICE vehicle with an agreement tha you can only buy gasoline from one vendor? Most likely not, that’s not convenient nor practical.
My advice- Charge the car where you can and enjoy. Life is too short to be stressed out about saving an occasional $30-$40 on a $100k+ car.
What he said.

Just ran into issues with EA auto charging for the first time since Jan/Feb this year. I suspect someone messed up some sort of config update on the backend >.<

I spoke with EA on the phone and they advised using the My Porsche app to initiate the charge, but the app failed with an error stating that it couldn't connect, so I think there's some sort of outage between Porsche<>EA.

Greetings all,

it’s time for another delve into the reasons why EA stinks! But not for the reason you may think….

Anywho, for the last ~17 days, EA chargers refuse to recognize my payment method via Plug&Charge, and every time I require a charge I’ve had to call customer support, explain the issue, and wait for a remote start. I’ve reached out to PCNA (to no avail), and EA has two case numbers to track my issue. I primarily rely on EA so this has been a nightmare, as a normal 20 minute charge stop has ballooned to nearly an hour - every time. Has anyone had any similar issues or know of a potential fix?

I have a same problem since last week at EA chargers where I have no issue before. I had to call EA to reboot the station and used my Porsche app to initiate the charging session.
I noticed that EA station where I had no problem with plug & charge is not support P/C on my Porsche app.

So I just went to the EA station that supports P/C on the Porsche app and P/C worked without any issue.

Unfortunately no, EA is the only fast charger where I live within a 60 mile radius. I’m having a house built so hopefully none of this will matter once I can charge at home. The reason for my consternation is that I put an honestly embarrassing amount of miles on my car so when I have to deal with this 2-4 times a week it gets old very fast. This is a capability that was promised with the car and I expect it to work.

Why would EA not be free much longer for me? I have a 2023 model with 3-year free charging. Is EA reneging on that agreement or something?

Getting “payment declined”

IMG_9637.jpeg
The same issue I’ve been getting. Definitely a more widespread issue than previously thought. Hopefully EA and Porsche will realize they both answer to VW and will figure it out.

Best way to fix it imho is to report the issue to EA every time it happens and get them to comp your charge. Takes a bit of effort but tbh otherwise they have basically zero incentive to fix this…

Well than yes that does sound like an aggravating situation. Without the convenience and ability to charge at home for a relatively cheap cost the alternative makes for can be a frustrating experience especially without a substantial charging infrastructure. Hopefully your home is complete in the near future and you’ll gain that convenience.

No, I wasn’t implying that EA is reneging. 3 years or less isn’t that long in terms of ownership for most people. Some people yes, leasing etc, but the avg is probably more.

Good luck!
