EV Charger + Automated Loading Shedding Device

I got an EVSE install quotation from one of the electricians saying in order to accommodate a Level-2 EVSE, they would need to install an Automated Load Shedding (ALS) device which would only allow the EVSE to run when the load on the home circuit is below 30A (Total load capacity of home is 125A). Is anybody using their EVSE with an ALS device? Would like guidance on pros, cons, charging experience of such a setup and things I should get clarified before install. Thanks!
