Ferrari's more natural approach to sport sound in an EV. An interesting idea, in my opinion.

That's interesting, I've always wondered what could be done with something like that.

Given part of the sound of a tuned engine is due to pipe resonance, and the sound power is substantial compared to the capability of amp/speaker this makes sense - if you want an EV to sound like a vintage sports car, which I expect some enthusiasts will .

I would hope it would die out with time as people get used to the fact that noise was a defect that had to be lived with by making it less obnoxious rather than anything desirable in itself…

Having different length pipes and valves could make it sound like it needs a gearbox, another IC engine weakness, too.

High levels of stimulation feedback (aka noise) seems to be an integral part of the Ferrari formula, hence it was natural they would go that route In the face of impeding electrification.

I can't think of much worse for daily use than an EV motor whining.

The trumpet is amusing. Though shouldn't Ferrari be going for a full orchestra?

Totally agree on weaknesses. The subject of some mirth on the Ioniq 5N thread on Pistonheads ?

Our issue with the Taycan sound is that it can’t be set to be ON as default.
