Be careful with those connectors, managed to drop mine in such a way it hit the trigger and broke one of two posts on the microswitch used to detect when the plug is inserted. I believe the broken post means that its moving and closing the circuit when it should be open.

Replacement cables are ~$700 :) Currently trying to avoid going down that path...

This is on the PMCC

I can't tell from the focus what part of the PMCC kit this is, but hang tight. Isn't there going to be a recall with replacement PMCC cables coming this year? other post

Unfortunately that’s the vehicle socket not the cable end they are replacing. It’s the j1772 plug internals.

I thought that we’re at the point where both ends of the charger are getting recalled now?
The way I read the recall notice I got was that it’s just the esve to wall; that’s the picture included in the notice.

Yes, that’s the current recall. The item that @hifi239 posted is showing that we may soon be seeing some drama involving the vehicle side of the cable.

Just read the service bulletin, seems like this is something they would swap out if someone gets the P31D200 error code; nothing to suggest it might turn into a recall?

Yes.
If the overheating code pops up in vehicle, then the cable to vehicle would be replaced, per the TSB.

Sorry for your experience.
Just another of many reasons not to use Porsche-brand EVSEs.

Which is a shame because I like the look and it's nice having the charger in the app. The ChargePoint turned up this morning. But I'm still trying to repair the broken charging plug.

I did cancel the order for the cable, because I ordered a like-for-like whereas it looks like I should be ordering the updated cable if I go that route.

It's more than a shame - it's a disgrace from Porsche.

For those following this thread, happy to report I was able to repair the connector!

I used an epoxy resin to repair the trigger stops (I believe the force of the drop on the trigger snapped these), and also used the same epoxy to fix the microswitch directly to the handle itself (the broken pin in picture one would have normally held this in place).

I also think the microswitch might have been stuck in the closed (down) position due to the impact and a small pull on it seemed to resolve it - and it started clicking up/down again. The microswitch not being open I think was why the car would not pull a charge even though the EVSE indicated a connection had been established.

I probably spent more time repairing that than it would have taken me to install the newly delivered ChargePoint (thank you Porsche); but I couldn't let it beat me :)
