The new Taycan doesn't even have an option to limit charging power to 200 kW, because Porsche said they've not seen much battery degradation in first gen Taycans when using ultra-rapid chargers.

I'm still struggling to mentally grasp that we're now almost flat charging at over 300 kW without the entire thing going up in flames. I still remember how impressed I was with the old Tesla Model S that could momentarily peak at mind boggling 120 kW and get an almost full charge in as little as 45 minutes.

Overcharging however implies charging an already fully charged battery and has nothing really to do with potential damages from high power fast charging. Overcharging shouldn't be a problem since it should be handled by the controller, but this was most likely a case of defective battery modules and not a systematic problem.

"Overcharging" refers to charging the cells to a higher voltage than they are designed for - And as Perry states that is purely handled by the control circuits. It has nothing to do with the way you charge it.

If you stay under 80% you should be safe anyways.
