I'm still struggling to mentally grasp that we're now almost flat charging at over 300 kW without the entire thing going up in flames. I still remember how impressed I was with the old Tesla Model S that could momentarily peak at mind boggling 120 kW and get an almost full charge in as little as 45 minutes. The new Taycan doesn't even have an option to limit charging power to 200 kW, because Porsche said they've not seen much battery degradation in first gen Taycans when using ultra-rapid chargers.
Overcharging however implies charging an already fully charged battery and has nothing really to do with potential damages from high power fast charging. Overcharging shouldn't be a problem since it should be handled by the controller, but this was most likely a case of defective battery modules and not a systematic problem.
