After just over a 12 month wait I've finally had the call from my dealer to come in and spec my sport turismo. 12 months is a long time to tinker with the configuration and with so many options I wanted to get feedback on the spec from you lucky people who've already taken delivery. Have I specced something you did and thought it was a waste or have I missed something that you have on yours that you couldn't live without? I've specced the 22kw charger as I currently have a Tesla type 2 charge point at the office wired up for three phase.

Out of the box I'm hugely on the fence on two things. First, standard black leather with carbon trims or the racetex GTS interior pack. The racetex is beautiful but with unsure how practical it my be in the long run? I'm also making the assumption that the GTS interior would really be an expected pre-requisite for a GTS when it comes to sell it on?

The second one would be the 4+1 seating, from a practicality perspective it's a no brainer but it's hugely irking to have the sport seat design for the front seats and then with the 4+1 the rear bench has the standard comfort seat stitch pattern. I very rarely would need the third seat in the back. Again thinking from a resale perspective how many of you would be put off not having the third seat?

Thanks in advance for any help!

my "rebuild" of your car w/more functional bits - removed some cosmetics and added back in "functional" options - kept the passenger display - and roof rails - ostensibly the same car but more functional.

  • It's a GTS, so drop the roof rails -£413
  • It's a GTS, so drop the Vauxhall Astra Boy Racer, dirt magnet "Sport Design Package" and leave the GTS exclusive trim as is -£2,525
  • Drop Comfort Access if not for risk of theft at a minor inconvenience -£774
  • Drop the passenger display -£725
  • Drop the 22kW onboard charger (can cause technical faults and you'll likely never make full use of it) -£1,179
  • Drop the carbon mirrors (look naff imo, expensive to repair/replace is damaged) -£1,052

Budget: £6,668

With that, consider:
  • Get RAS
  • Insulated thermal glass
  • Painting wing mirrors, model designation and rear wiper gloss black
  • Prep for dashcam (it's free and can also reduce insurance)
  • Seat heating
  • Paint your vehicle key Crayon
  • Line sun visors in leather, possibly grab handles for symmetry
  • Get the matching leather edged mats and boot mat
  • Line nasty scratchy plastic B pillar in Race-Tex
  • If you must add carbon, get the carbon illuminated sill guards instead of wing mirrors, because they look better.

You should have some change left for the PPF + ceramic coating.
Appreciate the aesthetic aspects of these builds all come down to preference, to me the carbon bits make it feel a little more special. Interesting you mention that the 22kw can cause issues though, what makes you say that? I had that down as an essential option, I currently do the vast majority of my charging at the office where we have a three phase supply, there's a huge difference in charge times between the 22kw and 7kw options.

Very nice spec and food for thought, removing the exterior carbon package and switching the interior to standard leather with carbon trim definitely free's up budget for more functional options. I do like the carbon though!

Multiple owners on this forum reporting faults with the 22KW charger, however, it may have been resolved in recent software updates.

Search the forums for it.

Does make sense to spec it in your case though.

TBH if you really like the cosmetics you've added, there is little point ordering the GTS. The 4S will offer almost identical performance unless you rag it around a track, will be cheaper and likely delivered sooner. You can't get the RS Spyder wheels in satin black, but you could always get them painted on the 4S.

Something to consider.

Hadn’t realised that the body kit on the gts was already unique tot the model! Taking out the carbon bits and substituting leather for the reacted I’ve come up with this.

Lots of opinions here! I’d only add my thoughts on the race Tex - I specced my GTS with leather, and from skimming incoming inventory at dealers all over the US this year, it seems to be a common change for the GTS. I don’t think you’ll find a lot of purists in the used market who have to have it.

Agree on the 4+1 seats. The sport seats look so much better in the back and the middle spot is so tiny anyway. My kids are grown though, so it’s rare I’d ever need it anyway.

Just a quick thankyou to everyone that chipped in with opinions and past experience. Was at the dealer today placing the order and have settled on the following.

http://www.porsche-code.com/PPBVQ699

Saw a crayon saloon with red leather in person on the forecourt, hard to state how much more subtle it is in person, the configuration really got that one wrong!

Already been advised that there may be a delay due to the race-tex b pillars but it is what it is and i think it will make a huge difference to the interior, without its very cheap feeling scratchy plastic (just my opinion).

Just need to resist the urge to change things till the lock in date now!
