New 2023 GTS. Specced with ACC. I downloaded ALK via FOD and am in the fee 3 month period.

I have an Eton with lane keeping/autodrive and it's rock solid. Keeps the car bang in the lane on motorway speeds.

The GTS was different. Don't know if Ive done somethignwrong but it was bouncing between lanes from left to right and not keeping the car dead centre.

It was most disconcerting. Additionally It was drifting far too close to the right lane markings (RHD car in UK)

Is this normal?

Innodrive has also just downloaded and I will give that a try

I have the feature that came with ACC, which I think is Lane Keep Assist. It’s totally useless. Feels like the road is playing a game of Pong with the car.

Make sure ALK is activated and you don’t just have LKA.
It’s pretty good on a motorway.

ok, looks like that's the issue. I was in LKA not ALK. The latter is still downloading.

How well does it work compared to the base LKA that comes with ACC? LKA very often will just not see the lines and deactivate, and it doesn't work below, I believe, 60kph? 65? Wondering if I should try the free trial.

ALK worked quite well for me in the US when I had the 3 month trial. It was nice for long highway stretches where I could relax provide minor feedback into the steering wheel so that the nags wouldn't pop up. I can't imagine what it must have been like for the OP bouncing between lane markers using only LKA ?

But how is it on more normal roads? I mean, anything but American highways as they're straight for 400km. Max speed here is 80 kph because there's barely any flat, straight roads due to mountains. Most of my driving is doing 60 - 70 kph on 1 lane (per direction) roads. :p

Couldn't tell you, I drive my car (no assistance features) on "more normal" roads. 80kph speed limit sounds like torture in a Taycan. You should just get the free trial and see how it works in your conditions. Sorry you have to deal with that while we're nearly unimpeded where I live.

LKA is extremely annoying and does little other than alert you that you are close to the side of the lane. It does no active steering from what I could tell with mine. Switched it off within a week of getting the car. Active Lane Keep I find to be pretty decent. It does a good job of centering the car on straight and slightly curving roads. Combined with ACC it's nice on a trip. Get a drink of water, play with the PCM,... and the car stays in it's lane and adapts to traffic. Just did an extended drive on some very curved roads. I tried ALK just to see what it could do. ALK was worthless. Partly because of the intermittent lack of lane markers on the sides of the road, partly it seems because it couldn't keep up with the speed the curves changed at. But why would you want ALK on these kinds of roads? That's where the Taycan shines. Such a nice, buttoned down suspension and much better to drive than be driven.

The speed limits are fine, but there are some roads that could be upped by 10 or even 20kph. You'll end up in a tree, in the sea, in a river, or a chasm on most roads going any higher. The roads are full of curves so the Taycan is at home here. ;)

LKA is just a nag that you are close to the edge of the lane. There is no active steering with that function as far as I can tell. LKA isn't intended to do what ALK does.

Active Lane Keep works well on the right roads. Relatively clear lane lines and no 180 degree switchbacks. It may not work for you in the mountains but on "normal" roads it functions well. I say this with no knowledge of what constitutes a normal road in Norway so YMMV.

LKA more than just a nag. It actively nudges you back into your lane. Maybe that is what you meant, but not what came across in what you wrote. For sure it does not actively steer all the time to keep you centered in your lane. That is ALK as you stated.

I took the three month free option and downloaded ALK, but was not convinced. Sure, it will do its best but even on some of our highways it drives like a nervous teenager. On B-roads, it was much more relaxing to drive the car itself compared to letting it make decisions for you. Maybe it works better in central Europe and the USA?

My ALK trial finally got deactivated today (after 5 months...). I'm actually surprised how little more than LKA it gives you. Now with LKA the car still steers me back in lane when getting to close to the lines. It was better with ALK but I won't pay for it. The camera is worse at keeping track of the lines than many other cars I have tried.

OK worked it out. I had ordered both ID and ALK on FOD. The following morning ID was installed and operating but not till the following day the ALK installed. So when I posted the car was using LKA not ALK. Just tested it on a 30 mile motorway drive. It was perfect. Spot on, 70mph passing huge lorries with confidence. Its working very well. However innodrive seems a bit pointless. Didnt seem to be working
