Folding mirror rubbing

New to the forum. Have a 4 year old Taycan Turbo which I bought year ago-love it (grumble continued depreciation).

Noticing that when mirrors folded that the black panel underneath getting metal exposed- see picture. Anyone else had this and what to use to sort it out. Obviously mirrors out don’t notice it

Your missing the rubber cap that sits on top of the metal. Look at your other mirror and you should see it and its current condition.

I think that’s just white residue on rubber. Salt?

Wow, it looked like bare metal. I would try to clean and use silicone to restore.

Thanks for response- nope it’s not salt/residue. Gone through to black plate underneath

This sounds like the plan- sorry to bother but when you say silicon can you give me an example of solution ?

It won't, the rubber cap has to be replaced. I thought that you wanted the silicone example for the other mirror or to keep the replacement from becoming brittle.

Ah… didn’t realise there was a rubber cap. Same other side issue though. No idea whew I’d get new cap

from that link above (in french ?), you should get a pic of the mirror and clicking on the "1" the correct part number:
992 857 555
992 856 556
for left and right sides

Better double check with your year/model if they differ from one year/model to another

Mine sometimes stuck for a few seconds and I had to hit unlock button on key to cancel it. All is good after unlocking and locking it again.

Thanks for taking the time to provide a link. Not sure this is correct though. That links to a gasket which doesn’t look like what I need or am I missing something.
