Thanks for the feedback. I'll go back and look at the small tweaks for sure. Some strange choices.
CF bumper trim, but no CF mirrors or CF B pillars.
VLC, which is a gimmick and if it breaks you'll be driving a loaner for over a month most likely. Instead of VLC the car would look much better if you specced the rest of the bits in CF.
Seat belts in the wrong color that don't match the chalk seats, surely that's a mistake?
Dash cam prep - The Porsche cam is pretty bad, I'd skip that.
For the wheels - those other options with the plastic air guides look absolutely hideous in real life. Go to a dealer and find a car with those, they look like shit and I've seen many posts on facebook of people ordering them and regretting it because they look nothing like in the configurator.
The carbon fiber trim was my very last option I was debating on, other than my wheel confusion. Sure it was a 4k option so even I was like meh, IDK. But it won out at the end. The CF mirrors, I will do after market. I put a lot of real carbon on my MB and also my motorcycle and the results have been great. I was able to find after market side mirrors for the Taycan as well for a fraction of the cost. I didn't spec the B-pillars just yet. I don't know if I care for the look vs. cost. Meaning that even if it was pennies, that Id option it or not. I want the option to take it off if I don't approve, and I can do that aftermarket as well.
- The VLC: I can't live with the fear of it breaking. Either insurance of Porsche I'd think would deal with that. im the kind of dude who doesn't want a Turbo S, but wants my tech in a car. I did do some due diligence and spoke to my local service deal and a few others about if they had seen horror stories about the VLC. I had them pull up the order in the computer and they didn't get any flags about "ordering issues" in the US plant or Germany. So while not exact a fix, it calmed down any potential fears of back order. My USAA insurer also pays out any window claim, sunroof or back minus my deductible. I asked they specifically about this option.
- The seat belts: To your point I will go back and look at it. I wanted some contrast. I have red belts in the MB AMG, but wanted to maybe try something new that wasn't as striking a contrast. The grey is still in the same color family as the Volcano grey exterior as well as the carbon fiber bits on the interior. The chalk or more white option I felt would perhaps show more dirt from a spilled drink or snack.
- Im skipping the dash camera itself after reading reviews, I did however want the prep that I thought other cameras could use. I heard that its a nightmare to install after the fact and I don't tinker with those issues on my car.
