Hi Guys,
Just picked up my Gen2 Taycan Sports Turismo 4S (Oak Green) after Dolomite 4S and Crayon Turbo (the Turbo with Racetex interior was a fab car just short on range)
The improvements promised for Gen2 have been great, super fast charge and nice extension to range but as a few lads have said, prob result of larger battery than anything else.
The car is very impressice in terms of performance but as I awaited delivery I was “Taycanless” and it’s easy to forget the performance of this impressive well engineering EV.
However I have grumbles:
1. I didn’t spec Sports Chrono and this means I have no access to ‘push to pass’ (kind of my fault but I do expect a good dealer to check & chat through a spec! I just didn’t feel I needed a clock on the dash, lap timer etc)
2. There doesn’t appear to be a “Sports Plus” drive setting via dash or the small steering mounted drive switch! I thought this was on my original July 2020 4S (certainly was integral to my Turbo dash board) - strangely there is a button for Sports Plus suspension setting. There is no “Individual” drive setting either!
3. Most frustrating of all is no ability to set the cars suspension to Sport as I find my driving on Irish roads & 2.2 tonne speedster means it handles better even on 21” alloys although to reduce road noise and smoother ride I’ve opted back to 20” after 21” Mission E alloys last time.
in short every time I get into the car I need to click the PCM under Car setting to adjust the suspension to my preference as well as knock off the lane departure warning on steering wheel stalk / fiddly button!

2. & 3. both feel to me like “changes” to how Taycan Gen2 is controlled and the driving experience versus the original Taycan spec - and both diminish the enjoyment and I’d argue the cars safety in terms of handling on my kind of fumes fast flowing roads that can make an already wide and heavy car feel even wider as it’s driven with a little gusto.

Has anyone else experienced this change or was I mistaken and 4S never had Sport plus and the ability to pre set suspension only to “Sports” and it would be fixed to that setting aligned to my driver profile (my key - my user preference through the PCM)?

Congratulations on your new car!

Regarding your minor grumbles, the selective drive mode wheel with Sport Plus is included in the Sport Chrono package, which you did not select. It was also optional on the first generation.

The Sport Chrono with Push to Pass is only available with the Performance Plus battery upgrade.

It seems you overlooked some details while configuring your car, which is something we often see on this forum.

Nonetheless, I hope you still enjoy your drive!

+1 to what others said about the issues that you are experiencing. I would like to share some data that might me helpful. In short, you are missing Sports Chrono package but given new Air Suspension, the handling should be much improved.

Note: I use J1 vs. J1.2 for ease of explaining. Officially, it is J1 I vs. J1 II.

Sport Plus driving mode is only available on any Porsche with Sports Chrono package.
Sports Plus suspension setting is available to you since Air Suspension is now standard.

Taycan J1.2 specific Porsche Sports Chrono requires PB+ and adds Push to Pass:

This graphic shows the power increases of each variant vs. J1.
So your 4S would fall into the 3rd column from the left with 340kw/400kw figures.

The handling of J1.2 has been substantially improved with now standard Air Suspension:

Thank you for that info and summary.
I’ve had Air Suspension in all of my Taycans so know nothing else.

In addition to Performance plus battery on all my Taycans I also have 4 wheel steer on last two I’ve owned plus RaceTex upholstery (which I think) keeps driver and car in unison - no slipping and sliding ?

It looks like I got 90% towards getting what o wanted / expected by default and fell at the final hurdle not realising that it was only possible with an optional extra!

none of this resolves the current tayvan retaining the Sports Suspension mode which I want fix every time I turn the car on go drive it and not forced to scroll through PCM to reset it (on every journey!)

I did not address the issue of Sports suspension setting. There should be a way to dial that using the mode switch on the steering wheel (instead of using PCM screen) that is now standard. I understand that on the second gen there is no individual mode, but every mode besides normal can be individualized.

thanks - I’ve tried the two personalised “diamond” buttons and neither offer suspension as settings but let’s see what the dealer says,

thanks forum members that have shared thoughts and opinions on this ??,

I meant to say, the Drive Mode button below, it is standard now. Push to Pass button is only there with Sports Chrono. Therefore, if you configure Sport mode with Sport suspension setting (which should be default anyway) then when you dial the Drive Mode to Sport mode, the suspension will go into Sport.

Can you still just press the suspension touch button on the instrument cluster? The hardware looks the same so it should still work in 2025.

Btw, it seem the only change in 2025+ is that the drive mode rotary switch is standard. It seems all the other stuff like SportPlus and Individual mode (and the new push-to-pass) are still part of Sport Chrono.

A couple of things - there is air suspension and separately there is Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) ie damper control.

PASM can be manually set via the touch button on the main instrument display.

PASM is automatically set depending on the drive mode selected with the default being Normal.

PASM stiffens the dampers from normal / comfort to Sport to Sport Plus. Irrespective of the presence of Sports Chrono.

Suspension or ride height behaves similarly and can be drive mode dependent, speed dependent or manually set.

Have you tried modifying your My Home Screen and adding one of the drive or chassis mode setting tiles to save drilling into the menus?

Some settings can't be saved and reset on power on as you've experienced.

Agree that your dealer ought to have scrutinised your spec before it was locked.

you have to set up the chassis settings against each drive mode in 2025 cars, there is no longer an individual mode. If you don’t have sport chrono, try going into sport mode in the drive menu and setting chassis to sport+

Sport chrono also brings a battery conditioning feature where the battery is pre-cooled ahead of track work. Not a feature many will use unless tracking the car but may be helpful in very hot places ahead of some spirited driving.
