Hey,

My car is still with the dealer (4th month) with no ending in sight. I might have chance to flip for a 911. Never had it before, but visually it looks nice and performance wise seems quite comparable, probably slightly slower. Particular swap car could be base carerra cabrio. I rarely have more than one passenger and cargo space is irrelevant.

Will I regret the flip? :)

Thanks,
J.

They're just different cars.

What do you mean it’s still with the dealer for four months?

Started with an electrical failure. Was brought in to dealer. They sort of figured that it should be a battery swap (with consulting with factory). Long awaited came battery. Swap was made to discover that battery was not the root cause, as the new battery and its controller got new errors aftet installing. Now they need to “find a short”, that’s the root cause. So almost 4mo in with no idea of the underlying cause nor therefore a solution or timeline. Epic.

I drove a 911 GTS yesterday while they resolved a PCM issue with my Taycan.

I missed the immediacy of acceleration of the Taycan, but the exhaust noise, the feel of the steering, fluidity of the suspension and the sheer sense of occasion of the 911 were simply EPIC. It's a true sports car in a way the gloriously refined Taycan isn't.

I'm so tempted to order one...but what variant?

Do I get a GTS in 18-24 months or do I put my name down for a FL GT3 in 2025 and cross my fingers and toes they don't F it up with electrification and that I even get an allocation.

If you have the opportunity to get a 911 you like straight away, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

You can always order a Taycan or find one that suits if the 911 doesn't work out for you.

With what you have had happened, I’d be definitely walking away from that Taycan - who knows what state it’ll be at the end of all this - and stepping into a 911 isn’t a bad deal :)

Can always get into another Taycan later; and hopefully one without all the issues.

I just picked up a 911 TTS last week. If they can keep your slot, sell you something like that for MSRP, you can drive it and flip it in a couple of months and pocket some cash.

They are big bucks but going for MSRP plus $100K ADM. Different feel entirely but dont turn it down if they offer you something like that to keep you happy.

I went the other way. Zero regrets swapping to the Taycan after 2 1/2 years and 35k miles of adventures in my 992C4S.

I went the other direction. Took some soul searching but i let go of my 997 911 TT 6speed in favor of the taycan. No regrets honestly since I'm not the type to maintain a "classic" and I sure had fun with it for over 50K miles

I also made a plan-B though in case my taycan hits the skids (the order changes depending on the day):

I went from a 911 GTS to a Taycan 4S.
If I could rewind time, I would.

The only thing the Taycan has on the 911 is the 2 doors. If you don't need those, 911 all the way.

Yes, depending on the models the 911 might be technically slower, but the 911 has way higher smiles per miles.

I'm going back to 911 or whatever EV variant of it exists after this.

Personally, I would never go back to ICE.
In case that they'd just think months what to do with broken car... I'd take my money back and order another Taycan. In the mean time, I'd try to find some other EV...
