Going nuts. How do i connect to my mobile hotspot?

I am trying to setup a carlinkit device. I need to connect the device to my android phone via hotspot (I did). I plug the device into 22 taycan. I'm supposed to be able to go to carplay and connect but no device picks up on scan. Figure I have to connect to taycan to my mobile hotpspot? For the life of me I can't figure out how to do this. OF I go into wifi setting it only let me connect to the taycan wifi which is useless. How do I connect this device?

I thought those got plugged into the USB port of the Taycan and emulated an Android Auto or CarPlay connection. IIRC you are not supposed to hook up to car WiFi at all.

That's what I thought but wasn't working (I don't even see a USB plug in for the taycan...just USB c to USB c which is how I plugged in). Just want to get this working to pull up Netflix ect...about to say to hell with it.

It’s possible that it’s not compatible with the Taycan PCM. I remember looking into those a while back and deciding that you have to purchase very specific ones for the Taycan which were on the higher end of the pricing scale for those devices. And yes, it would plug into the USB C port and then your phone should connect to the WiFi of the device.

Yeah the one I bought is supposedly compatible with taycan but thinking it's not...was thinking maybe I need sd card but it's supposed to come pre loaded and SD card for additional apps you want to use from my understanding. This is the one I got...

You might want to try a device from carplaymmb.com

I have no problem using those carlinkit devices and playing videos. Have you tried restarting the PCM first? After you have, Plug it in to the usb-c port and go to PCM -> Devices. You should see the carlinkit with carplay icon. If not, what do you see?

It just shows my phone under devices.

Do you mind giving a step by step how you set up? Like connect device to phone by hotspot or Bluetooth, turn car on, plug in device...and whatever else you need to do? Because I don't see it no matter what I try. Also, do you have an SD card with the apps on there or its supposed to be preloaded?

Without getting the device to show up under Devices. You really can't proceed any further.

If your carlinkit device isn't showing up there when you plug it in - have you tried a different usb-c to usb-c cable? Is the LED on the device on/blinking?

Yea, strange. Haven't tried different cable (I will) bit ues the leds are flashing. So you whennyou went under devices the first time it just showed up. You didn't have to do anything else?

Do you have connect on your phone through hotspot, Bluetooth or both?

Do you have an SD card?

Did you connect to the taycan through hotspot or just Bluetooth?
