A little background...I did a test drive on a Taycan 4S and loved it. I have a 2020 Macan Turbo that I love as well but really want to a change and think doing the EV route is a good thing. Right now I am living in Peoria IL and at the dealership they told me they had a build for a GTS coming in beginning of July 2022. So I jumped on it and gave a deposit of course with stipulations they give me a fair price for my car, etc...I will be moving back home to Kauai Hawaii next year this time so getting service for a Porsche is not an easy thing, need to put the car on a barge to Honolulu and the dealership picks it up, Fixes it and sends back. Same for service. Having my current car is simple because a mechanic can do the oil changes, etc without the hassle.

After I put down the deposit I joined this forum and reading everything and getting freaked out...

Cracked glass roofs
Batteries going bad and 6 month wait to replace
Constant Error Codes in the PCM
Charging issues

I would guess the car should fair well in the warm tropical weather with the battery issue.

Be nice to get some positive reinforcement that I am making the right decision in upgrading to an EV..

And thank you all for you honesty and telling it all on this forum...very refreshing
I've not had any of those issues, RWD bought in March '22.

I had a Tesla S for many years before getting my RWD Taycan. I am a new owner but I had persistent ongoing issues that took a long time to resolve, they replaced my batteries, Motor, Screens, Sun Roof, and front suspension. I hope I don’t have all the issues that are on the forum but it’s all relatively new tech.

I’ve lived in Honolulu and Kauai and now the Pacific Northwest were I just took delivery of a 2022 Cross Turismo. Yes, there will be issues and I’m remote from my dealer, a 35 minute ferry ride and another 60 miles. I just make a list of the minor issues for service and they repair them as needed. The car is too much fun to drive not to enjoy it cruising around Kauai. I suspect you will not be the only person having your car barged to Honolulu for service. Also, you will feel just a little bit better about your decision every time you pass by a gas station at $6 per gallon.

Yes and the great thing about an EV is you don't need service every 10K miles... I am really looking forward to getting back to the island lifestyle. Mahalo

I lived on Kauai for 15 years so think I know it a little better then someone that went there as a tourist. There are plenty of fun roads to drive on...Olehena is a blast, Kapaa bypass, Highway from Anahola all the way to Kilauea...plenty of curves and straight aways. Only time there is real traffic is summer and December the heavy tourist times.

Both of my children are in College now, eldest graduating this year with a dual Physics/Computer Science degree from Williams College. The other is a rising Junior as a Chem major so pretty set in the college finance department.

I would never ever buy a Tesla...last car I would ever want. I personally think it is one of the ugliest cars ever made right up there with a Ford Pinto.
You sound very well (best) placed to give a valid opinion to the OP.

What would you get in his position?
