Hi everyone. Very jealous of everyone who is enjoying their cars ... and hope those of you still waiting get them ASAP!

I locked today- so I HOPE this means March build and April delivery (but owing to deviated stitching I won't hold my breath.. Ive learnt a lot quietly reading on here !!!)

Qs for the UK based lot... to take up some time during the agonising wait ...

1. Did any of you sign up for any charging cards before the car actually arrived?.. if so, would you mind sharing which you've found the most useful?
2. Those of you loopy enough like me to ferry your dog(S) in the boot- any suggestions of a boot cover that isn't too crappy....?
3. I am due to have a Zappi charger installed as my electric is via octopus anyway... do any of you have any better suggestions? Or have any of you done just this and find it worked out well. ( decided against Andersen despite looking super flash)

Thanks in advance and thanks for all the posts. First post but Ive spent months of my life on here reading now and find it so useful.

PS-Expect car and 'dogs in car' photo spam when it finally arrives !!! :giggle:
Good advice above.

Charging Cards
  1. Taycan Charge Card (part of Porsche Charging Service and you should receive this after your car). Provides discounted charging at IONITY Ultra Fast charging locations (350kW) and can be used at Porsche Centres (note that some Centres charging locations may not be accessible out of office hours or at weekend). Annoyingly, Porsche charge you for both electricity and time spent charging. Charging can be controlled by My Porsche App.
  2. BP Pulse - subscription for discounted rates. Can use PAYG if not a frequent user. Charging can be controlled via an App.
  3. ChargePlace Scotland - Card & PAYG
  4. ESB - Card, App, PAYG - for use in Ireland
  5. Shell Recharge - Card, App
  6. Instavolt - App, PAYG
  7. PodPoint - App, PAYG
  8. Octopus Electroverse - App, Card (aggregates many providers - https://electroverse.octopus.energy...miDWxed1x1iYrLe8G6zvw397c9QJ8fEhoCO00QAvD_BwE)
I wouldn't rush to get them all and generally PAYG whilst slightly more expensive may be more practical than carrying loads of cards. Figure out how you typically charge (at home vs public locations) and where - this will help curtail the desire to sign up to many providers. Octopus is on the right track with their aggregated card to help minimise cards you could carry.

EVSE

  1. The standard Porsche Mobile Charger Plus (PMC+) is ideally suited to home charging and therefore no particular need to purchase another. The unit is weather proofed (IP54 rated) and so can survive outside but would advise installing in a garage if possible or in a sheltered area. PMC+ is supplied free with your car in case you weren't aware. It can be undocked and therefore 'mobile' but note that if you connect to an electrical supply with the supplied 13A 3 pin plug you will be charging at glacial speeds (fine as a belt and braces approach) but if you take the 32A supply cable and have access to a suitable receptacle at another location then that will be ideal.
  2. Ensure you have a 32A fused supply installed at home to maximise usage of the PMC+ (9.6kW rated, 7.4kW on a home 32A supply). If you have a 3 phase supply at home then you have further options 1) 11kW to max out the standard AC onboard charger in the car, 2) 22kW if you have the upgraded 22kW AC onboard charger in the car and a suitable EVSE / charger to support.
  3. In general, any EVSE (or charger) will suit and work with the Taycan but note that the charger is physically in the car (and is not the EVSE which unfortunately people also refer to as 'the charger) and that the car controls all charging sessions. To invest in and EVSE which has all sorts of clever functions is generally not a wise or necessary decision.
Dog Stuff
  1. No clue currently but I'm soon to take delivery of a GTS ST and will have some role in chauffeuring my son's new Lab pup around so will need to do some investigations myself. Take a look at https://content3.eu.porsche.com/pro...smo&co=30&ac=category&ka=Transport und Schutz - which might help. Plenty of other options I'm sure.

No got my ST yet but bought a Titan Covers liner. I plan to get a Weather Tech boot liner too. I've spec'd the cargo divider as my dogs aren't heavy and never try and get in the back seats.

Here's my 2 taking a test drive.

WOW what a reply !! thanks ever so much. Super useful and have noted all of the above.... thanks so much. I'm always staggered by how much you all know , and its so helpful for those of us who are a town clueless/ wading through it all. Good luck with the CT and lab pup. Don't turn your back on it though.. you may get nibbled head rests :giggle: :)

Hi. Not really an expert on EVSE devices - I have the Andersen, purely because of the aesthetics and where I have put it on my house.

I understand the Zappi is supposed to be good if you are integrating with solar. The other one that might be worth a look is the Ohme as this allows you access to another Octopus tariff that could reduce your charging costs (Intelligent Octopus) if that is of interest to you
thank you so much for replying. Ill look at this for sure :) Going for something less expensive.. maybe its a few more ££ towards... I don't know..... one of my stitches in the deviated stitching !! (not quite stopped crying about the cost of that yet!! but this is ym mid life crisis car also, so Im sure you will get it haha!) :giggle:

I have a boy and girl. Both noise sensitive and my girl doesn't travel well so hates bumpy roads so the Taycan's air suspension will help so much. She even sometimes is sick not good. Fine on motorways. She won't like the acceleration mind. Before we could agree to buy I had to test the boot for my 2 dogs. They are a part of the family decision.

I have signed up to 2 cards: the Ionity one that comes from Porsche (and well worth having), and a BP Pulse card (there is one near where I work). I haven't had need for any others.

I have 2 dogs and this was the main reason for getting the CT rather than anything else. I had a boot protector from my previous RS7 that fits well enough but I did buy a metal guard that stops them getting through into the back seats. I can't for the life of me find the details but I recall it was sold as being able to fit a Macan as well as the CT as it can expand to fit a wider car. It works well and unsurprisingly was a lot cheaper than the official Porsche offerings!

I've attached a photo from last weekend. If you ignore that the female black dog is clearly bossing the ginger boy, you can just about make out the cover and the guard.

I have 2 kids, 2 dogs and I wanted an electric estate car, not an SUV so there weren't many alternatives! Over Christmas we used the roof rails to carry a roof box so that we could get everyone and their kit in the car and it worked well. For weekend trips we might put a bag in the middle back seat, but otherwise the storage and space is sufficient for our needs.

Porsche charge
Electricverse is Octopus ? Energy aggregate card ( works with loads of different charge firms including Shell) and a must have. Btw it works with Porsche superchargers also.
As for the others you don't need cards just apps, Podpoint is big in my area and BP is a no brainer.

Check your area on Zap Map to see what local chargers are.

As my build approaches I'm looking at dog proofing again, anyone tried hatchbag (https://www.hatchbag.co.uk/porsche-taycan-2021-onwards-inc-cross-sport-turismo-not-sport-saloon)? Looks quite good an has an option for protecting the inside of the boot lid which others don't.

They recommend adding their mat on top which is 1" thick - wondering if this is going to adversely affect the sub woofer which I assume is in the boot.

This looks fantastic....... stupid Q- but I don't suppose the velcro attachment will snap or pull the fabric within the boot ? Great option though as I do think all sides could do with protecting.
So sorry, Ill have to let the more clued up others give opinion re sub woofer... but this is fab :like:
