Good advice above.Hi everyone. Very jealous of everyone who is enjoying their cars ... and hope those of you still waiting get them ASAP!
I locked today- so I HOPE this means March build and April delivery (but owing to deviated stitching I won't hold my breath.. Ive learnt a lot quietly reading on here !!!)
Qs for the UK based lot... to take up some time during the agonising wait ...
1. Did any of you sign up for any charging cards before the car actually arrived?.. if so, would you mind sharing which you've found the most useful?
2. Those of you loopy enough like me to ferry your dog(S) in the boot- any suggestions of a boot cover that isn't too crappy....?
3. I am due to have a Zappi charger installed as my electric is via octopus anyway... do any of you have any better suggestions? Or have any of you done just this and find it worked out well. ( decided against Andersen despite looking super flash)
Thanks in advance and thanks for all the posts. First post but Ive spent months of my life on here reading now and find it so useful.
PS-Expect car and 'dogs in car' photo spam when it finally arrives !!!![]()
Charging Cards
- Taycan Charge Card (part of Porsche Charging Service and you should receive this after your car). Provides discounted charging at IONITY Ultra Fast charging locations (350kW) and can be used at Porsche Centres (note that some Centres charging locations may not be accessible out of office hours or at weekend). Annoyingly, Porsche charge you for both electricity and time spent charging. Charging can be controlled by My Porsche App.
- BP Pulse - subscription for discounted rates. Can use PAYG if not a frequent user. Charging can be controlled via an App.
- ChargePlace Scotland - Card & PAYG
- ESB - Card, App, PAYG - for use in Ireland
- Shell Recharge - Card, App
- Instavolt - App, PAYG
- PodPoint - App, PAYG
- Octopus Electroverse - App, Card (aggregates many providers - https://electroverse.octopus.energy...miDWxed1x1iYrLe8G6zvw397c9QJ8fEhoCO00QAvD_BwE)
EVSE
- The standard Porsche Mobile Charger Plus (PMC+) is ideally suited to home charging and therefore no particular need to purchase another. The unit is weather proofed (IP54 rated) and so can survive outside but would advise installing in a garage if possible or in a sheltered area. PMC+ is supplied free with your car in case you weren't aware. It can be undocked and therefore 'mobile' but note that if you connect to an electrical supply with the supplied 13A 3 pin plug you will be charging at glacial speeds (fine as a belt and braces approach) but if you take the 32A supply cable and have access to a suitable receptacle at another location then that will be ideal.
- Ensure you have a 32A fused supply installed at home to maximise usage of the PMC+ (9.6kW rated, 7.4kW on a home 32A supply). If you have a 3 phase supply at home then you have further options 1) 11kW to max out the standard AC onboard charger in the car, 2) 22kW if you have the upgraded 22kW AC onboard charger in the car and a suitable EVSE / charger to support.
- In general, any EVSE (or charger) will suit and work with the Taycan but note that the charger is physically in the car (and is not the EVSE which unfortunately people also refer to as 'the charger) and that the car controls all charging sessions. To invest in and EVSE which has all sorts of clever functions is generally not a wise or necessary decision.
- No clue currently but I'm soon to take delivery of a GTS ST and will have some role in chauffeuring my son's new Lab pup around so will need to do some investigations myself. Take a look at https://content3.eu.porsche.com/pro...smo&co=30&ac=category&ka=Transport und Schutz - which might help. Plenty of other options I'm sure.
