Posts/videos some time ago indicated that DC charging stations in US have technology and designs that are well behind that used in Europe. Specifically components/modules that are harder to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair/replace.

Hey, maybe it all comes down to using a better plug. If so, once EA is outfitted with NACS plugs, all our EA troubles will vanish.

What about the reliability of CCS1 plugs at Magic Docks? I haven't heard any horror stories about those. Perhaps they don't see much use, but I wonder if Tesla figured out how to make a more reliable CCS1 plug.

I'm humbly disagree and respectfully - but your suggestion in the rest of your post are excellent - but I think it's chasing a bad position into a terrible long term situation - honestly I don't see what's wrong with NACS -other than "it's change" - I would suggest any amount of change is about equal cost given that we're going down that road.
I totally agree that NACS is better. And I agree a hardened CCS1 would prolong the issues. The problem however is the cost of transitioning. ($150) x (number of existing CCS1 cars in US plus ones that will ship before they all manage to switch) x (some replacement factor needed for the life of the car) would not be an insignificant cost, add to that cost of switching all CCS plugs to NACS, and compare against only deploying a hardened CCS1 plug. I bet the latter is significantly cheaper and less painful short term. While you and I would like to think long term, and be willing to just eat the $150 per car adapter cost, it’s not so straightforward when it comes to government spending. They could tax all NACS connectors and use the proceeds for free CCS1 to NACS adapters for existing cars, but that would also create political friction. This reminds me of why some lesser developed countries have better and cheaper cell phone networks and internet access, which all stems from them starting deployments later and not having to deal with legacy hardware already deployed - that included needing to amortize already deployed hardware before scrapping it, as well as huge cost to replace all cell phones, modems, etc. Look how long it took to sunset EDGE (2.5G) or the more recent 3G sunset efforts. There are still places in the US where internet tops out at 18/5Mbps, runs over DSL, and is the only option available!

One of the curses of pioneering large network technologies is then having to deal with failed iterations and provide a graceful transition. CCS1 is facing the same problems, already deployed, very expensive infrastructure which is in active use.

Too small number of them and too short duration in service to draw conclusions. That said, as I stated in more detail above, I believe a hardened CCS1 plug could absolutely be developed, perhaps Tesla did it.

So rather than have a solution the rest of the world is happy with, enable many thousands of cars already on the roads today, and work with the world on improving standards for the future, our government prefers not having a solution at all while hoping for some ideal. Welcome to the our government folks.

PS> Adaptive headlights can be hacked-enabled on Porsches. Here is a video from someone who did it on their Cayenne.

Taycan matrix headlights have the same capabilities. It works very well on North American roads, even in relatively dense traffic.

Respectfully, this is all bullshit. I have owned my Taycan for over 2.5 years and never found a charger that would deliver more than 163kwh despite the advertised delivery of Up to 350 kWh. I am so done with this.
It's worth noting that the Taycan may not charge as quickly on non-800V chargers. When connected to a 350-400V charger, it may not achieve the same rapid charging speeds due to limitations in amperage. This is because the Wattage is determined by multiplying Voltage and Amperage, and vehicles designed for higher Voltage often draw fewer Amps.

Actually, Taycan on 400V is limited to 50KW by design. If you equip the car with the optional "Onboard 150KW/400V DC charger", that goes up to 150KW max.
