When in the OPC for a heater replacement they identified that my Sport Turismo has "small hole(s) in front and rear undertrays".

I presume this is from scraping slightly as I enter and exit my driveway. They say it is very common in London too (from speed bumps I guess).

It's just advisory so far, but when I get to the next service they will probably want to replace both trays at vast cost. Questions:
- do these holes actually matter?
- can I get someone to put tape over them, or some similar repair, to reduce risk of the holes expanding?

Nothing Porsche does seems to be much less than £1000 so maybe it's cheaper to re-pave my driveway and the pavement outside?

I don't know the technical answer to your question. However, if they tell you to fix something (and you don't) and then there is a problem, it gives a chunk of wriggle room to get out of the warranty. You definitely don't want to invalidate the 8 year battery warranty if those trays are part of the protection for that?

Example: They advised me to check the battery drains (£300 odd), which wasn't part of the quoted 2yr service. They said i didn't have to do it, but if there turned out to be a blockage (and because they'd advised me to check it) and it caused a fault then it was down to me.

Yes that's a good point. I'll see if I can get an email exchange on record with one of the Porsche Pros. And perhaps take it to somewhere like Kwik-Fit and have them put the car on a ramp and tape it up very securely.

I think on the battery drains, having heard a lot about the variable approaches to this, I'm tempted to ring around until I find a dealer who doesn't require that... If it is not on the service schedule from Porsche, any resulting defect should be a warranty issue I think?

It's only a problem because they told me. I made my unimpressedness (is that a word?) pretty clear when i got the service report with that attached as an advisory - It wasn't because they'd seen anything, they just do it/say it as standard. Nice way of getting you over a barrel.
I think it tells you why there is such a big spread in quoted service prices as to what they include in the initial quote. Not good for customer loyalty.

Similarly, when I took my car in for the heater recall, without asking me they drove it over a sensor which provides them the opportunity to sell me a wheel alignment for £1000 or new tyres. Luckily I escaped unscathed this time. (Yes of course it is also a useful safety check, but still ... )
