Never seen it. I was 32 when it came out and busy trying to win the World Championship ;)
You missed out on the arcade game too. It was excellent!!

Heretic!

A sound engineer slaved over the perfect sounding fake electric engine sound for a simulated moment of real audible joy.

Or something like that.
I am not a fan of fake sounds, either from speakers or sound tubes between engine compartment and cabin.
I'm an old bloke who prefers real.

My other hate is the proliferation of faux leather uphostry in order to be leather free. What is wrong with fabric for a "vegan" interior, like Porsche mainly use? It is cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

I wouldn't consider a Tesla for a nanosecond for this reason alone - and I quite like other aspects of Teslas.

Computer games are another thing I can't get used to, I've tried a few but always get fed up and do something instead. My grandchildren don't know how to do anything else as far as I can see...

Agree and TBH in my two Taycan test drives I anticipate the sport sound would get irritating over time and I would rather let my music fill the cabin - I am after all speccing the Bose sound system.

However, for a hard drive in mountain roads, the sport sound would add to the "theatre" of it all. Just not sure how often that would happen!...

Also agree about fake leather. Nasty, and has all of the cons of leather with none of the qualities.

I'm also increasingly torn between what I thought would be a crayon leather interior in my GTS to the Race-Tex. I've never liked leather seating in the home for their cold/hot properties, so questioning how sensible it is to spec in my Taycan.

Plus, having seen a number of YouTube videos where luxury sports cars have a leather interior, it doesn't seem as "sporty" as alcantara. But then, Race-Tex can look a bit messy where the "nap" of the material gets matted in multiple directions.

Decisions!

It’s the actual motors sound amplified, not some DJ mixing something together. So, fake and not fake at the same time ✌

I have driven loaners and test drive 4S's with the sound and didnt like it.
My 4S didnt have it, I quite like the subdued Starship Enterprise whine on hard acceleration
as it was real, there is a bit of noise without the 'extra noise' but it is still quieter than a mausoleum at 100mph. I dont think you need insulating glass to make your Taycan even heavier.......

Track day at Porsche Experience yesterday in GTS, The GTS sound is a bit of fun on a track.
I wouldnt have it on much on the road, perhaps 10% of the time when having a hoon about.

My big complaint is it should be LOUDER. When its on I would like it to be ON, not just on!
Even a bit of tunes drowns out the sound. You can only really hear it if you turn the stereo off.

I’m with you on dislike of fake leather, and Tesla interiors are vomitatious. But fabric - oh hell no. Over time if you’re prone to sweating like I am after a workout at the gym 4 mornings a week, over time fabric interiors get REALLY funky smelling. All that aside, I love my Taycan interior. Had I been able to customize it I would have gone with full leather, but I bought from existing new car interior and mine only has the standard leather seats without the dash and trim leather.

Throw a towel over your seat to prevent sweaty a$$ contamination post-gym.

One of the several small reasons I didn’t go for the GTS is the custom seats are only available in the 18-way which I have found markedly less comfortable than the 14 way for my width of backside and my wife wants massage function which isn’t available, so that meant leather anyway so the CT4S was better for me.

I thought the 2 layers of thin glass with damping layer between was lighter than the standard solid glass.

Makes sense and your justifications are sound, not least getting your car sooner. The CT4S looks incredible and when I was tearing it around the A and B roads near Silverstone on a 30 minute test drive, it's the most fun I have ever had in a car. I doubt the GTS will provide a noticeable better ride, not least having given that a test drive (on much busier roads) in Leicester.

I tried out the 14 and 18 way seats, and the latter worked better for me. My decision on seat material is that much more difficult now I am questioning whether leather = "sporty", which is the look I want to achieve.

If only I could look at things with a bit more logic, but then I never thought I'd be spending £125k on a car ?

My concern is phone reception - not sure if the insulated glass would mean poor reception for streaming music and GPS?

I have no doubt you are correct! It’s more the £1000 than the weight that puts me off!!

I quite like the sound of some petrol engines but increasingly we have low reving turbos with fewer cylinders so very few sound good today compared to, say, the 1990s.
I don't mind a noisy multi-cylinder NA sports car, I have enjoyed them for decades, but for general use, and particularly if it is just banal noise, which is the norm nowadays, or fake I'd rather not have it at all.
Couldn't agree more! Humans are quite good at discerning what is real and what is fake when it comes to sound. Thinking back:
  • I loved the sound of my NA Mercedes V8s. Nothing 'try-hard' - just natural with sympathetic resonances
  • My first Porsche was a 718 Cayman. It sounded pathetic - until I worked out how to disconnect the 'speaker' that was vibrating the fire wall in a vain attempt to make it sound like something that it was not.
  • Then my Carrera T had a far superior sound... for a turbo.
  • Now to the Taycan... A couple of long drives in demonstrators made up my mind: 'Sports Sound' is faux and tiresome. It took me a while to work that out. My wife came to the same collusion a few seconds after I turned on the sound: "What's that weird sound? Can you turn it off?" ....Scratch that option (at a saving of over AUD$1k)!
Taycan's are quiet. It's a virtue to be celebrated.

Indulge me for a moment: When I was 15 years' old, I read a newspaper article about 'prestige' cars. The article attempted to capture the essence of each brand: The Porsche owner liked his car because it performed well and 'girls notice it'. (Hey, it was the '70s) The Ferrari owner liked his car because it 'ate Porsches for breakfast'. (Whatever.) And so on. Finally, the Mercedes owner was asked why he liked his car: "I love the sound that the door makes when I arrive home from the yacht club at 2am." Perfect! 15 Mercedes later, I bought a Porsche and haven't looked back. Guess which car makes the least noise at 2am now.... ...and performs better than any Mercedes!

Tried that, doesn’t work. I will never ever again have cloth seats. They just end up getting disgusting and you have to sell the car. Ever since I experience that maybe 30 years ago, I’ve only had leather seats in all my cars.
