Porsche will charge you to charge. It won't be seamless if you have plug and charge issues initially.

Use Ionity for the cheapest rate.

Plug and charge must be enabled in the PCM and relies on a digital.certificate to be exchanged between the car and the Ionity EVSE- can take a couple of attempts particularly with a brand new car.

The other methods should just work if you have an active Porsche charging account.

Nobody said public EV charging is cheap...that's the preserve of home charging.
Thanks, I have lived with Ionity BMW pricing for 3 years which is comparable with the Porsche pricing. Just need to iron out the Ionity handshake issue as it was failing whichever process was used to try and initiate. I have enough issues at work with digital certs :)

I used to use P&C but got the RFID keyfob last year and it is definitely quicker to start but never had an issue with IONITY using either. The keyfob is really handy as it's always on you and if you're at a charger that you're not sure is P&C or not you just tap the fob and away you go at the appropriate Porsche rate.

You do need to check everything is set up and active as mentioned above. Did you try using the IONITY app or a debit card to see if that worked? Then you'd know if it was the charger or the car/card.

So took the car to local PC in Exeter and charging was fine on their chargers. Then called at Ionity to have another go, failed again. Called Ionity who suggested turning Plug & Charge off in the PCM and now it charges ay Ionity.

Small correction: for those on Porsche Charging Service Plus, the OPC chargers are the same price as IONITY; as are a number of other “preferred partners” in Europe. The list is here or available via the app.
Current ones are:
“Porsche Sales & Marketplace (f. e.participating Porsche Dealerships), Porsche Charging Lounge, Porsche Factory, IONITY, Audi Charging Hubs, Aral pulse in Germany (until 31.11.2025), Iberdrola (until 21.12.2028), & Zunder (until 31.12.2026) in Spain, GOFAST in Switzerland (until 14.07.2026) and Fines Charging in Bulgaria (until 31.12.2026).”

There is no explanation why some have an end date and no indication whether they will renew.

It’s funny that they don’t include GRIDSERVE and Fastned in the list of participants. I charged recently at them and instead of their standard fee of £ 0.79 on the Porsche Charging invoice I was charged only 59p.

Take a closer look at the price list I linked to above. ”Preferred partners “ are 39p. Gridserve and Fastned are “DC” which is 59p. You can see the price for any specific charger, if on the Porsche network, in the app.

Had my first Porsche delivered yesterday Taycan 4S MY26 should be a nice experience. However I have spent around 2 hours over yesterday and today at my local fortunately, Ionity and it fails to charge everytime tried all 6 points. Drove to a Gridserve and it charged without an issue first time for an unbelievable 85p/Kilowatt. Waved goodbye to my i4 M50 which didnt let me down in 3 and a half years at Ionity or on the road, what have I gone and done!

Does anybody on here use the Porsche Centres to frequently charge? Is the seamless? I need some confidence in the car as I often rquire to public charge.
Did you try the Porsche card at Gridserve? That should give you a cheaper tariff. If the Porsche card fails at Gridserve too then there may me an issue with the account.
I assume you have added a bank card to your Porsche account?

Updated - seen you got it sorted by turning off P&C. Will be interesting to see if it works when you turn P&C back on. With J1.2 cars the handshake time has been reduced from nearly a minute to around 19 seconds
