Just.a follow up on charging - NOT free in the UK sadly, it costs circa $50 to charge 20-100% on a 120kW public charger or about $30 from home for the same.
Expensive but way less than the V8 M5 cost for similar mileage ($150 for a full tank with today’s fuel price which maybe too me 280 miles max). ??

Just wondering why you called out Instavolt given most are now tap to pay these days (or in Ionity’s case, Porsche card)? Do find that whenever the supplier has a small rfid key ring available I’ll order one of those (i.e. Shell is tap to pay but using the rfid you get the same experience but with it recorded in the app).

Wish they’d all copy the ChargePoint+ card though and have a virtual RFID available in Apple/Google Wallet. That works as well as tap to pay whilst giving app stats and invoices.

Or, are you saying you are having charging issues other than at Instavolt? Not heard much about charging incompatabilties on Taycan tbh. For me I no longer plan around Instavolt as they have so few >50kW units. Driving mainly north of London then find Ionity, MFG (and Gridserve Rugby) are my go to units with Shell seeming to be making surprising progress. Hopeful as Gridserve puts more Hubs in (opposed to the slow ecotricity like for like replacements) and Osprey with their hub efforts.

Purely subjective and what’s local to me. I have Osprey (work OK but 50kW only abs at my regular place once charger is temperamental). I also find that 50kW charging fails every time if the battery is colder than 18 degrees.

Ionity and even Porsche haven’t given me anywhere close to 350kW.

Instalvolt 120kW works first time every time, the app works very well, the RFID car works every time (neither my Osprey nor my Porsche card are reliable).

Don't expect 350kW - 270kW (max charge rate) is the best you can hope for and probably only ever once in a blue moon given the conditions need to be just right to achieve it.

Yes of course you’re right - brain fade for a second. I’ve achieved 145kW max on the 350kW chargers.

To be honest I’d got to the point I’d assumed the car doesn’t have key memory so perhaps I’ll reset and start again. Dealer just said ‘it should work’ but the screens keep flickering and occasionally hang completely so o was going to raise it when it goes in for the seat issue.

Yeah, but the things you’re complaining about would be the same in the base car at less than half that price, so it’s not entirely fair to present it as a $200k car to make your case. It’s not like Porsche technicians building the car are going “Guys, this is a Turbo S. We need to make sure we turn glitch mode off and make the trunk bigger.”

There is a very good reason you buy a 1 Series BMW and it sometimes has rattles yet you buy a 7 Series and it doesn't; additional time and effort is spent to ensure the 'premium product' is delivered as such. In fact Porsche has even prioritised parts (ie. missing elements due to chip shortage) to higher spec models. Other manufacturers stopped producing lower end models in favour of higher versions. It's where they have higher margins and therefore greater profit.

So (trunk/boot space aside - and incidentally my issue is the design of the lid which intruded when closing, not the actual size), issues like a squeaking seat can have zero acceptable excuses when it's an ongoing issue like it is. This is why manufacturing utilises tools like kaizen, lean etc... otherwise it's wasted effort and increased cost. This is not how the VW group is run.

Your love loss for the Taycan will never come back. You had a ride, wasn't impressed, and are now looking for another model.

Memory pack is standard with the 14 / 18 way seats which you will have so my guess is that something hasn't been enabled - there are many options not mention pressing the memory key on the door (press Set then choose 1,2 or 3) and that you have logged into the car (suggest auto login rather than prompting for your PIN code)

Ok - I get this sometimes and generally if | don't use the key to unlock (use comfort opening instead). Using the key (button) generally forces the settings to be reloaded rather than pick up from last user.

I suspect its a "feature" and poor programming - hey it's a Porsche, we expect no less!

The 350 is misleading tbh, I think the Max should be about 270 which is still up there with the fastest despite being what 3 or 4 years on the market (I’m coming from an iPace that maxed at 100 haha). Good to know you get 120 on those Instavolts, think many are 800V so will benefit from the Taycan (my iPace would only get around 60 on those). My iPace had the hump with those Osprey 50kW Raptions, typically taking about 3 efforts and the odd wait for shutdown and had even worse trouble on the Chargeplace Scotland ones (different firmware perhaps?) but was solid with others. Hoping the Taycan will be happier with them as useful over lunch stops in some remoter places.
