Over the past few days I have been experiencing an issue while charging at home. I have a hardwired Tesla universal charger for reference. When I plug in my Taycan, the initial handshake completes and begins charging but immediately stops as if it has reached full charge. Then after a few seconds it attempts the handshake again and starts charging but I am seeing a rate of only 7kw. It holds the charging process the second time around and goes to completion albeit at the slower 7kw rate compared to the 11kw rate I am used to seeing.

I am not sure if there is an issue with the car or the charger but this just started out of the blue. Any idea what it could be and how to troubleshoot? Thanks!

could be thermal related - have you tried rebooting/resetting the Tesla charger?

also depending on ambient temperature the Taycan could be throttling the max charger rate due to temperatures it's sensing at the charging port…

Hmm no I have not tried rebooting the tesla charger but I will. I am not sure at this point where its a charger issue or a car issue.

Likely a "it's very hot in Florida" issue!..(degrades charging)
