Spotify stopped working in early July. The icon just grayed out while driving saying function not available if I touched it. When parked, it would enable again but pressing it brought up a modal that says it was trying to register and then that failed.
I finally called Porsche support a couple of weeks later. (I prefer the sound from the built in app to CarPlay.)
the rep said that they had seen this before and they would need to have Germany look at my setup and reset some things remotely. A week or more later I got a call back saying that Germany had pushed a fix to my vehicle and I should try again. And if that did not work I should remove my profile, lock car and walk away for 20m and then read my profile. Neither the push nor the profile dance worked.
The next step was that they would report back to Germany and that I likely needed a hardware reset at a dealer of my choice. They would have the service rep call once they got the go ahead from Germany.
A week later and I had heard nothing from Porsche when suddenly it was working again. No need to register, just worked and was connected to my account.
Then today (a couple of days since the fix) I got a follow up call. Apparently the data plan with my carrier had expired and they renewed it this week. That was the issue. Seems crazy to me.
Crazy that they said they looked at my car, thought they knew the issue and pushed a fix. Could they not see the data was not working.
Crazy that this can happen. Have they not been through this before. Have processes in place (automated ones).
I am pretty sure internet radio, podcasts, and Apple Music were also not working I just don’t use them.
I do have to say that Porsche support was helpful and easy to contact and talk to. Will def call earlier with any other issues.
Glad it got resolved, glad it was only a few weeks.
