It's better in every single way... except in how it looks
Indeed. I like the old headlights better (understanding that maybe snow collects in the corners) and I'm not impressed by the new flat corners on the front bumper.

But the video is very good and does convince me that both depreciation of the old is real as well as that I need a new one... Damn.

Yes I really want to see it in person. In pictures it seems to show the front humps aren’t as curved.

Much better technical review than the normal review. So does this overcome your depreciation shock and your wallet is now open for business?

Nope.

Lease deals are poor and reflect the turmoil in the EV market. Expensive upgrade for 50 or so extra real world miles and a bump in power which isn't really what it needed.. Same car otherwise - its a face-lift however you cut it.

Hm, I wonder what that alternative colour scheme is about, where the front inlet blades are black. I haven't seen that in the configurator. Feels a bit Audi E-tron GT esque to me.

The significantly improved real world charging speed from 10-80% and the magical suspension are very desirable to me but not worth it enough to dislike my GTS.
Or so I’m convincing myself ?
but I do still prefer the gen 1 front bumper and headlights design over gen 2

To be fair it’s a lot more than a typical Porsche facelift, almost everything important under the surface is new.

Better in every single way yet they couldn't figure out a way to have the vented fender openings with the power charge port covers. I sure would like the extra .03cd

I think the key question (for me) is: had I known all this back then, would I have waited another 1.5 years?

It’s not a resounding ‘no’, but that’s mainly because of the financial angle (markets etc.). Porsche themselves said the new model saves 40min over a 1200km trip - and that’s just not compelling enough.

Good to note that the difference is way bigger in colder weather. As the new gen charging speed is radically faster in the cold. This was a significant factor for me in deciding to upgrade, as I live in Finland and have definitely felt the inconveniences with my current Taycan in winter time.

If something happened to my .1 I'd consider a .2 RWD or 4S with the cleaner front end, Turbo front is a hard pass, or would use the backup car until 2.1 which should have better styling and HUD.

I've never had a car with the depreciation curve this car has; at the very least I would absolutely not consider buying it new (and I am not usually a used car buyer).

My likely more controversial view is that I miss an ICE car. The Taycan is great, and I certainly loved it when I first bought it, but I never fell in love the way I did with my previous V8 BMW. The Taycan is better in every single way, and yet I miss that engine note. I think I'll be going back to an ICE car before they are regulated out of existence, EV is not for me until I have no other choice

You know, .2 RWD/4S cleaner than .2 Turbo, not better than the .1 original.
I suppose an alternative is to find a used .1 in that case, but I've looked and there's nothing configured the way I like.
