It’s been interesting to see this issue continue to pop up. I have a cross turismo on the way to replace my sedan and this provokes a small amount of anxiety. I do wonder if this is a car/glass engineering issue unfortunately rather than an adhesive problem or over tightening of the roof rails. Basically an issue of a very big piece of glass on a long car. Hopefully eventually this gets solved. When I spoke with my sales associate he said they had only seen one cross turismo with this problem and it happened while they were offloading it from the delivery truck.

My dealer, who has handled this situation very well, says my CT is the only Taycan they have seen this on. My 4th roof seems to be holding with@ 1k miles behind us.

Awesome. my roof had 2500 miles between the original roof and roof 1 before cracking again. Just keep an eye on it.

On my second replacement roof. For those who get the roof replaced and the windshield replaced, look under the moulding for deep scratches in the paint. You'll want to touch them up to prevent rusting.

An update on my cracked VLC roof for my CT.

Dropped the car at the dealer on Weds 24th May as arranged. Was advised it would be a one or two day job. Call taken on Thursday 25th - there is a problem. The VLC functionality doesn't work in the new roof. Awaiting further instruction from Porsche.

To cut a long story short, I need another replacement roof, but Porsche cannot even confirm when this will be available until final week of June. So, no one can say when I will actually get the replacement!

I picked up the car today with the faulty roof (not the cracked one), whereby the different transparency functionality does not work in the front half of the roof. It is of course perfectly drivable, but still not ideal that when the sun is finally out, I cannot use the roof as expected.

The dealer has been excellent throughout, with continued communication and updates. They are doing their best, but can't do much more without a working part!

To be honest, glad to be out of the Macan courtesy car and back into the Taycan. It is SOOOOOO much better to drive! Will update once I hear about the second replacement!

Thankfully, all under warranty.

Reporting a crack as well. VLC roof, exterior is cracked but interior is not. Seems to come from where one of the roof rails is mounted. Car is ~6 months old.

Must be a defect from factory. Beware of how your dealer is replacing it. It is quite an intensive job requiring the removal of the headliner and most trims from the dash up. My car doesn't sound as quiet as before now with the replacement roof. More rattles now too.

Tech left quite a mess in the car and trims were not properly put back on securely. I tried to put the A-Pillars back myself and noticed their tech basically just hammered the pillars back in with no regards on how the metal clips should be placed. They were all bent and not attached to anything that's why the pillars were loose. I'm sure other trims are not properly secure either causing the rattles.

Reviving an old thread to report my roof has cracked again.

My roof was replaced late last year and now it's defective again. I'll have to got back to the dealer and wait for the part to arrive to be replaced...
