Today I did a 3+ hour drive through the Texas Hill Country using the Porsche Roads app, starting in NW Austin, going down all the way to Hays City Store & Ice House (which btw it is fantastic and was packed for lunch).

Porsche Taycan LKA and Keyfob Errors IMG_9253

The car did really good through the winding roads, the hills, and the switchbacks (my wife otoh was gripping that door handle 😅) and I got a couple of errors I have not seen yet:

1) LKA kept beeping that I needed to move to the middle of the road as it did not recognize backroads without lines on the pavement. These are county and farm-to-market roads where there are two lanes (one each way), sometimes not marked. I got the error twice and I had to disable it to make the beeping sound and the dashboard warning stop.

2) For some reason while I was going 65 on a 45 mph road, it gave me the message to move the keyfob to ensure it was still in the car. That was weird so I took it out of my pocket and placed it in the storage under the AC screen. That removed the message instantly. But it was during some fun curves so my wife was afraid I was not going to pay attention to the road (I did).

Both times we were wondering what was going on because I’ve never seen this before in other vehicles, so I told my wife it was probably because “the Taycan is so advanced, it sees the 2 unmarked lanes as 1”. Needless to say, it kept me wondering what else was going to pop up, and I setup my battery monitoring on the right with the tire monitoring on the left jic.

Anyone else have this happen to them? Hoping it’s a one-time issue because them twisty roads in the central Texas hill country are a lot of fun to mess around with!

I think there is Active Lane Keep which is only used in conjunction with Innodrive and there is Lane Keep Assist which I think is on all models. I assume you mean Lane Keep Assist which sucks eggs in my option and I turned it off the first time it tried to move me a place I didn't want. I also turned off all the other nanny setting (like speed limit warnings).

Active Lane Keep on the other hand is good keeping the car centered when using AAC. I wish I could control where in the lane it kept me however (I read somewhere that you can by forcing it to stay to the left or right and then it would continue what you want... but I haven't been able to get that to work).

For the key... keep it in your right pocket?

I just checked and you are correct, let me modify my original post. I’ve used it and liked it except this time it acted kinda weird on me 🤷‍♂️

Change the battery in your key...that should improve the wireless communication between the Taycan and the key. I find that the key drains the key fob battery more quickly than other vehicles.

The transponder for the key fob is behind the central cupholder. Place the key vertically against the side of the holder to re-register the fob.

Documented in Owner's manual.

I’m going to try this next, I keep the key in my right pocket when driving so there should be some movement preventing it from being static.

Just a little remark, even though it doesn't change much in the context of this conversation: I have ALK without Innodrive.

ALK keeps the car in the center of the lane, while Innodrive adjusts the speed automatically, based on what are the speed limits & how are the curves in the road ahead.

Both are independent from one another, and the Taycan can be equipped with one and not the other.
