Hi. Can anyone help with getting the key apart to change the battery? I looked in GTK and it says to remove the emergency key then remove the sides of the key - but I am having trouble getting them off and don't want to break them. Is there an easy way to do this? Maybe it is not possible to break - if anyone can describe how to remove them then that would be great. Thanks.
I couldn't figure out how to open the key and watched several videos. Someone used a small screwdriver, someone else used an even smaller screw driver. I couldn't figure out the tabs idea, either. What did work for me, and very well, was simply pulling the side flaps off -- away from the keyfob body -- from the top of the gap area where the valet key had been located. Had to futz with the new battery too which involved removing the flaps a couple of times w/out further problems. Ultimately the key came back together perfectly and retained its ability to open the car.

Had to replace the key battery yesterday. Agree with you that there is no need for tools. Just pull the side pieces apart gently after removing the emergency key and you’re good to go.

Thx for the video.
Just got a message that battery is low.
It lasted 15 month, no tools needed for replacement.

Does disabling key holding lock and unlock button stop the key from constantly talking to car (when hanged close by), allowing it to reset low battery error and also preventing draining battery?
