I just bought a 2022 Taycan 4S Cross Turismo with performance + battery. When I charge to 85% it displays as just 184 miles which would equate too just 215 mile at 100%. This is MUCH lower than claimed. Is this the reality I can expect?

Yep. That’s it. Give the pcm time to adjust to your driving style. Spring and summer range will improve to 220/230 miles.

My prediction is 230 miles at this time of year and 270 in summer but that is an average based on pottering around home, of course.
If I go fast on the motorway it drops.

OTOH range isn’t something I often think about now I’ve had the car a while - it is almost always enough for what I need.

It's known as a guess o meter for a reason.
depending on many factors like driving style, climatic conditions, topography, tires, and tire pressures to note a few you should see around 230-250 miles per 100% SOC.

I am a 9 year Tesla owner (3 different models) switching to Porsche and get all those variables. My concern was without driving at all (so not taking into account the variable) it show only 184 miles at 85% which is well below all the quoted ranges including your one above.

If it makes you feel better charge it to 100 %.
Sure you have done your research before departing with your hard earned cash.

You’re also rolling around in WIDE tires. Looks like the 21” wheels from your photo. Your range seems to line up well with what Porsche quotes for a spec like that and the fact that it is winter. You’ll probably get 240-250 in the summer.

Really depends on outside temperature. Mine at 85 right now is 225-230 in the garage then right when it goes outside to the cold 20-30degree mornings we have been having it drops down to 190ish

When there are concerns about the realism of the displayed range, I recommend noting the consumption figure for your own typical journeys to get an alternative indicator of potential range.

FWIW: I drive a CT4 with 21 inch wheels in the Chicago suburbs. With temps in the 20s and 30s, I average about 210-220 miles (fully charged). In the summer, I average around 270. Range mode adds another 5%. The guessometer has been fairly accurate.

Thank you all. I will simply test the range and enjoy the car which seems lovely. First long trip needing charging today. Tesla charging network was great. Hopefully this will be the same but with an even better driving experience

I suspect what you are experiencing could be an average calculated based on quite a few very short runs shunting the car around in the dealership recently and it will sort itself fairly soon with a bit of normal use.

Beautiful car there. " I am a 9 year Tesla owner (3 different models)" See other answers, but also, Porsche doesn't do that thing I hear Tesla does (or did) where the range is over-estimated at high states of charge, and then falls like a rock below 50%. After driving with your style for a while, and given the weather, the number on the dash is real. See today's news, search "Tesla lowers Model Y, S, and X range estimations following exaggeration complaints."

As someone with a CT4 and 21” wheels I have similar figures at 85% (car is just over 6 weeks old).

However, it has constantly over performed quite a few times by 15%+ and as stated it’s a guess ometer.
