Making the jump to EV (Taycan)

Hello All, I’m after some advice. After years of owning Macans I’m finally seriously considering a Taycan Turismo. We only do very few miles per month as both WFH + we have a public charger 2 mins walk from our house which is never used. Our budget is approx £55k which would prob get us a 2021-2022 below 30,000 miles. We love the design and have driven EVs before and are really into them.

My q is youtube is full of horror stories with recalls, after recalls with the Gen 1s. Have all the issues been sorted? Any advice for buying a low mileage Taycan and what to avoid? Are Porsche still warrantying all the Gen 1s.

J1.1 (Gen 1) should be rock solid at this stage in its life and as long as you source from an Official Porsche Centre (OPC) then you will have no worries or sleepless nights - full warranty on the car plus the battery will have what remains on its separate 8 year warranty.

4S ST should be achievable with the budget in mind.

Spec:

1. Perfomance Battery Plus (PB+ - ESSENTIAL)
2. Surround view cameras (4)
3. Bose
4. 20" wheels are better for range
5. 14-way seats (or 18)
6. Comfort access
7. Matrix lights
8 Full leather interior
9. Panoramic roof (doesn't open but brightens the cabin)

Nice to have:

1. Porsche Torque Vectoring (PVT)
2. Rear Axle Steering (RAS)

Don't rule out:

1. Home charging ecosystem if you are able - hugely more convenient and cheap as chips to run compared to public charging - £0.07p / kW compared to £0.70p (and upwards).

21’ 4S. I was looking for a luxury EV and thought that Mercedes and Porsche were the only two viable options. I think Mercedes looks like a Honda, nothing wrong with Hondas. I just didn’t want to own one. BMW, they all look like buck tooth rabbits with their stupid grills, which apparently is done because China loves big grills. Anyway, I have owned it for roughly 9 months, 7000 flawless miles, yes it’s been in the shop three times for recalls. As I understand it the 21 year battery is probably the best year. So yeah awesome car. Our other EV is a MACHE, 2022, also flawless, 32,000 miles. But this car rides like shit compared to the Porsche.

Just one remark: get a home charger even if it's just a trickle charger.

Do it your gonna to love, I think YouTube sensationalise things as the YouTuber wants likes and to be watched. I have had no real issues to date with my car, when it went it for service recalls are done. My dealer is brilliant looks after me and when my car wouldn’t connect to the phone they had it for a short while and sorted the problem out. Taycan is a brilliant car to drive and in EV world probably the best. You’ll love it am sure. YouTube take it with a massive pinch of salt as their are other factors motivating them which financially benefit the individual.

2021 to 2023 is the sweet spot for used Taycans. Don't overlook base models as they are wonderful to drive and have all the power you need in normal driving.

Yes I was looking for a 2021-2022 Cross Turismo with low miles.
