Microfiber towel care

Sharing my microfiber care tips. I know it's overkill and OCD, but it's helped keep my paint flawless with no swirl marks, washing every 2 weeks for over 2 years.


I keep a bucket filled with watter and 10oz of white distilled vinegar. I use a separate microfiber towel for ever panel and submerge the towel in the bucket after use. This keeps the towels from becoming hydroponic due to the chemicals absorbing.

Immediately after I'm done washing, I remove the towels from bucket to put in the washing machine. Never mix towels used for tires or the cars undercarriage with any other towels to cross avoid contamination.

Detergent:
Liquid detergent, Never use fabric softener
White distilled vinegar in the bleach and fabric softener dispenser
Washer setting:
Hot water
Pre soak 20min
Drying:
Dryer set to 10min air dry, zero heat. Very important not to use any heat.
Remove while damp and hang to dry.
This keeps the fibers intact and fluffy

These steps ensure long lasting, absorbing microfiber towels for years.

Wow. Impressive regimen, @Mr.Smith. Did you accidentally discover that the towels became hydrophobic over time without using a water-vinegar mixture? I find microfiber to be not very hydrophilic to start with, so I'd be thrilled to find out vinegar improves the wicking and absorption of microfiber towels.

I find microfiber to be not very hydrophilic to start with, so I'd be thrilled to find out vinegar improves the wicking and absorption of microfiber towels.

All of my towls are hydroponic after 1.5 years because I use so many different sealants and waxes.
I'll do another post about how I wash my car which takes between 7-8 hours for a regular maintenance wash. My car is not dirty, its just not perfect.

I learned many techniques from my friend that is the only person on earth to get perfect scores at PCA concours events. PCA is the most anal in judging for dirt.

Here are the different towels I use:
Exterior:
Wheel
Dressing
Window
Paint dirt removal (low pile)
Paint sealant application and removal (high pile)
Door jams
Interior:
Leather
All other interior surfaces

No matter what they will become hydrophobic, but this prolongs the longevity. Keeping them submerged in water/Vinegar immediately after using ASAP is the greatest tool though
