Does anybody know of a way that I can monitor the 12 v battery with either Porsche app or other as always wondering when car is stored for period does battery need to be charged I know I can use a trickle charger but like to have car covered when stored and I believe its not advisable when using charger

Some ideas…

1. Via Bluetooth to your phone:

Victron Energy Smart Battery Sense.
Amazon, £33.50

2. The one below is connected via 4G via its own built-in roaming SIM card, so could access from anywhere - but is a lot more expensive and doubtless has a higher inherent parasitic draw anyway. So in fact might be a bit counterproductive…or it could be fine. I haven’t tried it.

Victron Energy GlobalLink 520
Amazon, £200

I am using an Ancel BM300 the works over blutooth. Works great and has a 30-day history.
It creates images like:
Porsche Taycan Mointoring 12 V Battery preheat-2023-02-15

(well, without the annotations in red). The one above shows that initiating a pre-heat will recharge the battery -- so, if you are away many weeks, you may want to pre-heat the car ever 3 days for 30 minutes to keep the battery topped up. (maybe less, we don't know if the pre-heat gives a fresh 8 automatic recharges or not).

However, for your use case, this monitoring won't really work since the 12V battery gets recharged automatically 8 times. The battery voltage level does not matter much .. what you really would like to know is when the last (8th) auto recharge happened so you can ask someone to turn on the car to get a fresh 8 recharges. I guess the best you can do is monitor the voltage and wait long enough to see 2 auto recharges and then you know how long it takes between 2 recharges for your car (which may depend on LTE reception, updates, etc). I guess it is about 5 days .. I am trying to measure it but are using my car too often lol :-D

Or take it the easy way out, just ensure the car gets turned on for 30minutes every 2 to 4 weeks and all should be good :like: ... in theory.

I've noticed if the car has been sitting a few days the 12V battery will start from 13.2V and quite quickly ramp up to (pretty sure it was) 14.2V before coming back down to about 13.5 or 13.6 volts. All in the space of 2 minutes of switching on the car.

I do wonder if a lot of cases of failed 12V batteries happened because of extended storage during shipping. I know from experience with the Lithium batteries in bikes and tools that an extended low SoC can be ruinous to the long term SoH of the battery and they can fail prematurely.
