Heads did role - VW CEO was sackedYeah, this has been out for a bit. What an absolute shitshow. If they truly are delaying the EV Macan just for the software, heads should be rolling. That's a massive problem.
It has been eye-opening to go from a Taycan into an i4. BMW's system feels about 2-3 generations newer/better. Everything is just ready to go, voice command works well, etc.
Problem started in VW and impacts the entire group. And replaced by Porsche CEO![]()
I know, we have already talked about that external software company, with an ISO9001 certificateProblem started in VW and impacts the entire group.

That prospectus has a lot of interesting bits of info. Only got through half of it but thought this excerpt was interesting. Not surprising but good to know what they’re working on.The Porsche IPO prospectus contains a lot of info about Taycans and EVs.
(Direct link from Porsche depends on your country. I have attached a copy --large file -- to this post.)
Search for "Taycan" or "electrified vehicle"
The Group’s ambition is for over 50% of new vehicles delivered to be Electrified Vehicles in 2025 and over 80% of new vehicles delivered to be BEVs in 2030. Among other initiatives, existing and future investments are focused on the introduction of additional BEV models or on the transition of the current ICE portfolio, building on the success of the Taycan, the Group’s first fully electrified Porsche, current research and development activities are focusing on the technological enhancement of the Taycan mid-cycle upgrade and the second generation. The Group plans to invest in the launch of the BEV version of the 718 model family as the first fully electric two-door sports car and is also investing in the electrification of the remaining model families, including the Macan BEV, which the Group plans to begin delivering in 2024. In the medium term, the Group expects to extend its product portfolio with a new, fully electric, luxury SUV model.
Disable Smart Location in PCM NAV settings.I have some new wonkiness to report. my car has started to send random smart directions to the nav system. it is usually directing me to places I was recently at but never entered into the nav system. then yesterday I got a random notification that an apple podcast was now scheduled.
there seems to always be something with this car
I have to fess up here as I didn't know what it was and enabled it after uPdate. Has been a feature since day 1 (2 years ago) and a pointless one at that as it ain't that smart!Same thing happened to me after the update/recall. It took me a while to figure out that the update turned on Smart Location function. I thought the car was haunted.
My i4 eDrive 40 is complete and on the way to port. Good to hear that the software is competent. It has been eye-opening to go from a Taycan into an i4. BMW's system feels about 2-3 generations newer/better. Everything is just ready to go, voice command works well, etc.
