Back in February I used DC charging, navigated through the Porsche navigation and got 270kw.
In this week I used the same 800v DC charger a few times (also navigated with Porsche navigation) and only got 149kw. This was the same for both charging sessions, it would do 149kw for about 5-10% and after that back to 100-110kw, with a nice flat loading curve.

The temperature was in the optimal window (by using the navigation to precondition), battery saver is off and I was the only car charging at Ionity/DC charger.

Any idea what it can be? The only difference with the car is that is has been back (and repaired) for the APB5 recall, a module was replaced.

Ionity chargers can also be affected by temperature outside, and not provide full power.

What was the state of charge (SOC) of your battery?

If 50% or above then don't expect higher charging rates than what you got.

Local infrastructure issues / throttling could be part of the problem too.

Too many variables for the layman to figure this out 100%.

That could be a reason, but in peak summer I already hit the max speed with my previous EVs (200kw+).

Between 30-40%, previously I did see well over 200kw with that SOC.

then is was probably the charging equipment - max speed charging is what is possible - it's not what is guaranteed - there are soooooo many variables that go into a charging session - and most of them are not visible to you/us as consumers - with out detailed logs from both the charging station and the vehicle for that specific session - there is no way to know why you were limited in charge speed for any given charging session - it's just impossible to know given lack of data visible to an EV owner…

I will note that Rivian has "status" during charging - and I've seen on screen in a Rivian messages that list for example:

"charging station is limited power - optimal charging speed not available"

which would inform a Rivian customer that the reason for slow charging is the station and not the vehicle.

Porsche PCM will be capable of that also... in 30 short fiscal years
as a paid option
for 4000
and requires porsche subscription

The new Taycan already has this actually. It shows the currently maximum charge rate of the car, what the charger outputs, the optimal temperature range of the battery and the current temperature.

They also added a button to manually preheat/precool the battery for charging instead of having to start navigation to the charger.
wow! thank you thank you thank you!!!! This is a vast software improvement vs gen1 Taycan charging information - I hope they have similar or better for the new Macan!!!

thank you again for posting this - I was unaware gen2 finally has better charging information.

Physical or software button? Assuming its software, there may be a 1% chance of update on j1 taycans

Software. It's a button in the centre console display in the battery menu. Yeah, hopefully Porsche eventually releases an update for the older Taycans like they've done before. The software in the new Taycan has improved quite a bit.
