friends, I have a slightly silly question on the topic of overboost/launch of the Taycan.

I have an RWD, no Sport Chrono (sport button). I understand it does not have "launch control" per se, but does it go into overboost if I repeat the launch control sequence (e.g. foot on the brake, accelerator to the floor)?

Thanks!

You need to put the car also in sport mode for launch control

yeah, that I understand. But will it launch without the Sport Chrono or would I break something? :)

Yes You do have launch control!
just put into sport mode
then left foot hard down on break pedal
right foot hard down on accelerator pedal wait a few seconds it comes up on dashboard LAUNCH CONTROL!
then release the break pedal keeping your accelerator hard down and off you go ?

also the battery has to be at a higher percentage or it won’t work
ie higher than 30 or 40 % and I wouldn’t try it if the battery temperature is cold

enjoy ?

Launch control absolutely works on the RWD without Sport Chrono.

I had a salesman try to convince me otherwise but I've performed it and seen it with my own eyes.

I have tried it also and it works but it is not "blows my socks off" on my RWD...gotta admit I don't even do it anymore..the car is plenty fun without it!

well, that is all really helpful, thank you all for your input!

yeah, over-boost is supposed to give you an extra 50hp or so?

had the same thing, the dealer tried telling me it would be missing without a sport chrono. What bugged me was that Porsche still quotes the "over-boost" figure as a separate one, without any reference to whether Sport Chrono is present or not. Sneaky.
