Paint or powder coat CT wheels

Sorry if this topic has been covered before, I couldn’t find it anywhere. I bought my Cross Turissmo 4 off the floor and ended up with the Cross Turrismo wheels that I love, but I really wanted the Vesuvius Gray painted version. Body color is pale metallic blue and I thought the existing wheels don’t look right. I’ll post pics. Anyway, is anyone else as picky as I am and looked into this? OEM wheels are 9k, aftermarket 3k but mine are perfectly fine. Thoughts?

I made sure the rs spiders on my pale blue GTS were gray and not black.

Just make a post for a trade and your location. Maybe works out as it did for me. (I liked the CT Vesuvius gray, traded the 20" aeros to a member who wanted them)

Also, the vesuvius gray is painted, and finished in satin if you want to go that route instead. I certainly wouldn't pay for new OE wheels unless you hate your wallet. OU9 paint code.

Literally can't tell a difference to the OE painted wheels so you can match trim, etc, or fix curb rash in a few hours.

You can have them painted! I am sure it will cost less than 3k.
That's probably the best option.

Once you do the wheels though, you might want the CT bits in vesuvius gray as well... could get expensive.

Controversial take? Having these highlights on the CT 21" wheels really doesn't look great, it destroys the whole shape of it.
The diamond cut highlights look better on aero wheels (as they are just big ugly blobs otherwise), but spyders and CT - hell no.

Wow that looks awesome! Thanks for your input. Most of my friends have no idea what I’m even talking about I found out most of the powder coat shops use Prismatic colors and they let you order samples for free; just shipping. What is your color called? It looks good with the colored center caps

To be clear, I didn't have it painted, it came that way from the factory. Just showing the color with pale blue.

It's called Anthracite Grey (see option description below). Here is an actual photo of the wheel in bright light (and this thread to see Pale Blue in different light conditions... it's really different):

Update to the thread; have an appointment in 4 days for powder coating existing wheels to Vesuvius gray which I color matched through Prismatic and purchased the matching center caps from suncoast. Turn around in one day service including removal balancing etc is $1300 US. I plan on ceramic coating the wheels while they’re off the car for easy access to barrels with Gtechniq C5 wheel armour. Has anyone used it? Also, I know this sounds excessive but has anyone else noticed the wheel hubs have a very light primer that looks like it will stain and rust easily. Has anyone addressed this? I was thinking at least ceramic coat it. I’m out of town so can’t send pic but in my wheels the hubs are pretty visible (at least when cleaning them)…

Vesuvius gray is a paint, not a powder coat, as far as I can tell on OEM. Despite that, powder coat is what I use for all my jeep beadlocks and is more durable than paint, so if you are happy with the gray shade, I fully support powder coating. I can't fathom bothering to ceramic coat my wheels. Just enjoy them. If you paint them though, the OEM is a satin clear, not gloss or matte.
