My 7Li has it. And I noticed (and by accident) that the Taycan also has a "side parking light" feature.

And ashamedly, for the past 20 years, I've never once asked or wondered what the feature was ever for. We'll, I looked it up and I guess in Europe, its very common to leave a parking light on so your car doesn't get hit in the narrow streets.

well the question is - does anyone know how long you can leave these parking lights on before you battery dies? I believe they are powered by the 12v battery and not the High Volt battery?

Love the feature. It actually looks cool when you're parallel parked on a night out.

Yeah I don’t find it in the manual either.
But the way to activate it. When you turn off your car. Just turn your signal left and the “one sided parking light” message will activate. Walk away from your car and eventually the left side front led lights and left side rear light will light up.
Most German if not all German cars have em.

All German cars have had this feature, for as long as I remember (that is, remember knowing which cars are German, so at least 70s-80s). The sole consumer (of power when the parking light was enabled) back then were the ~5W lowest-power light bulbs on the car, meant to be on overnight and still leave enough battery charge to start the car.

I imagine the led on the Taycan draw even less power.

Thanks. Yeah, I was trying to figure out the wattage on the parking lights. I used to leave them on with the BMW whenever I'd park on a busy street. Made me feel a little better nobody would side swipe me. But I remember the battery draining once long ago and never wanted to be stranded ever again. Hoping the 12v battery on the Taycan is better than those older gen batteries.

UK cars have had this feature for literally decades - common to all / lots of manufacturers.

Also documented in the manual.

In some cases leaving the LHS or RHS indicator stalk in the on position will activate.

OP referred to the switching on of just one side of the parking lights via the indicator stalk. And as you say that has been a feature in Europe for decades anyway. Not the normal all around parking lights etc.

With the new LED lights I guess even the small Lithium battery can survive a long time. And rumours have it they are using an AGM 12 volt battery in the MACAN??

Thx all for validating. And great find on the manual. At first thought, I was starting to believe it was some remnant feature no longer recognized/needed. Like a human tailbone.

I like the way it’s mechanized in the Taycan better than other Porsche’s. In Taycan it must be activated after the car is switched off. Whereas other Porsche’s if you pull over to the side of the road using a blinker, then shutoff the car, the one-sided parking light stays on.

My point is that the old way (non-Taycan), it was easier to accidentally leave on the parking light if you left the directional on.. My experience is based on a 911, and Cayenne, and other family drivers that make this mistake regularly. The Taycan is smarter…
