Porsche Taycan PCM CODE FAILURE 1694876341967

I have no ability to open Apple Music, Spotify - all the apps are "greyed out" and I get this message. Contacted Porsche NA, and they said I had to bring it to the dealer to get it corrected. Car sat at the Porsche dealer for two weeks and couldn't get it operating. Brought it in a 2nd time (they said they could get it working) and it's been there another week without a resolution. My trip planner also doesn't work - just a spinning clock.

This all get very tiring - I've owned the Taycan for 8 months - and it's been sitting at the dealer for a total of 8 weeks trying to fix software problems that never seem to get resolved.

Any thoughts? I spoke to the dealer about lemon laws, and they said I wouldn't have much recourse with "software" issues that don't affect driveability, but just info and entertainment.

Hi @WindsurfUS1111 I originally had this issue when I first got the car in 2022. 2 months passed and I finally contacted PCNA by sending a message from my app. Then it magically started working and I never got a reply from PCNA. I don't really use it much but I noticed I started having this issue again early this year. I got really frustrated and searched everywhere and found this by @pnw-ev-nerd

This time I emailed PCNA again, [email protected], and they asked me to send screenshot etc. and it took them FOREVER to respond each time. I asked them to please escalate this issue immediately, and fortunately, they did, without waiting for another 2 weeks for a reply.

Anyways I was put in touch with a very responsive "Connect and Charging Expert". I mentioned about this "data package" being removed to him, and he had me run some tests to make sure I am only having issue with the streaming stuff, with news and weather apps still working, which I am. He forwarded the case to Germany because that's where they handle this "data package" thing. He also asked me to consider factory reset the PCM, which I refused. I think it took them about 2 weeks to confirm it is indeed the "data package" getting removed etc. and the rep personally called me to let me know that Germany resolved it and I am good to go.

FWIW, I never brought the car in to the dealer. I am surprised your dealer is unable to solve this by contacting PCNA/Germany. It would appear that this issue affects a subset of vehicles and they probably have a bulletin for it.

I suggest you just do the same, have them escalate immediately, and mentioning this data package that is only fixable by the German team. Good luck.

@WindsurfUS1111 Would you share screenshots showing all of the PCM display, when you first turn it on, and then with error code message?

I've been spinning my wheels with the dealer with little results.
This gives me a different path to pursue.

I don't know why Porsche NA recommended a dealer fix, but they clearly have no capability to fix these kinds of issues.

Your PCM connectivity issues have largely been resolved, or are these ongoing issues you learn to live with?

lemon laws dont specify software or hardware etc... they specify number of times or days a warranty issue remains unresolved. call pcna and let them know youn want to invoke your rights under lemon law and return car for full refund. you might be surprised how fast things get resolved

I have also owned my taycan ct 4s for 8 months and are having like problems with the PCM and many others are having pcm problems maybe not exactly but many are getting that spinning circle with mostly blank screens. I have been I. Contact with Porsche speaking to head of customer service and they said the same that this is not a lemon law candidate?? I’m not sure they are correct. Porsche answer is they know they are having many problems with the pcm and they have no eta for the repair? My opinion is this should be a class action suit because many many people are having the related problem. I asked my dealer if I bought a new car what would you give me for my taycan ct 4s , the answer was we can’t buy your car until Porsche has a fix
for it. Because they can’t sell the car!!!!! Duh neither can we. So you now can’t even trade your car in ?? Pathetic answer. To be continued.

I'm pretty pissed off hearing that this is still an issue. Porsche told me after they fixed it for me (dated Aug 16 2023):

The issues are ongoing and I kind of gave up. For example, while my Apple Music finally started working again, it sometimes asks me to Login next time I start the car, and when I pressed log in it'll start playing without actually going through the login process. Other times, Apple music would play for few seconds and stop, on every single track. I just go back to CarPlay and call it a day.

Exactly. Doug was the guy who handled my case as well. Maybe they only fixed "your" particular car so it won't happen moving forward, and did not mean a fleet-wide fix for cars that already experienced the issue like mine.
