PCM won't load my account today

This morning, I was greeted by this dreaded screen:

Porsche Taycan PCM won't load my account today 1000037650


My account was of course grayed out, and unselectable.

And since then, I tried resetting the whole PCM system (and I lost all of my presets of course) and adding account via PCM and then mobile, which almost works, failing at the last moment:

Six hours later, and I still can't sign in. Not to mention that their suggested workaround doesn't exist... there is no Settings > Accounts menu.

This happened in the middle of a trip, so it was a major snag. I was lucky that Plug and Charge worked, since my app is now disconnected from the car... rather it just shows old information as if its up-to-date, but it's clearly wrong. I was so close of getting stranded out of juice and having the car towed.

My wild guess is that Porsche just can't fuсking get their software to work, and today is the day when their Porsche ID service went down and is still down because it's Saturday. I love the car, but this incompetent fuсkery is tiring.

There is also lack of any accountability. When a company has an outage affecting customers, they investigate, publish an incident report, and take measures to prevent similar outages in the future. My guess is that I will not see or hear any of this from Porsche. They will quietly fix the problem in the next few days, and pretend as if nothing happened.

Sorry you experienced these problems. Not clear what the situation was when you got that screen.

Did you see the LTE symbol in upper right corner of PCM? If so, the car had datacom cellular link with Porsche servers. If not - display showed two horizontal lines - then no cellular link for datacom and no remote access from the MyPorsche app and website.

Either way -datacom or not, you should have been able to use your existing account to start the car.

Factory reset of PCM is usually a last resort for troubleshooting, and not necessarily helpful.

In some circumstances, if you are unable to connect to car remotely from app with your primary account and the car has LTE symbol/cellular datacom, if you use the PCM process to add a new user account to the PCM and re-add your primary account as a new account, it seems to reset itself and enable remote access for the primary account. The PCM does have home ...... settings ...... accounts menu. If yours does not, something is very wrong.

Edit & added: Cellular data connection is not required in order for an existing user account in PCM to operate the car. If the PCM in your car suddenly stopped recognizing/accepting a user account to operate the car that had previously worked, it was not caused by some online Porsche server problem.

That "shield" opens Privacy and Porsche Connect Settings, which shows that Private mode is Active. When I tap Private Mode, it shows "Changing privacy settings..." and nothing happens.

I see Displays, Voice control, Audio, Media, Navigation, Notification center, Phone, Privacy and Porsche Connect, Vehicle, Assistance Systems, System, Set-up assistant... NO Accounts.

Porsche is fuсking retarded.

FWIW, I’ve had the car occasionally go into “privacy mode” on its own. It usually self resolves after a day or two, and with the litany of other issues I’ve had with the car, I haven’t even bothered to report it to the dealer/Porsche. Would definitely be an issue if it happened during a road trip and or when I really needed to use the pcm.

I have not seen the problem you describe discussed in the forum.
I can understand you getting the Welcome - switch account or continue as guest screen if you did a complete reset on the PCM. In that situation - to re-enter your primary account, the car will need LTE datacom, and you will need your 4 digit security pin. And, privacy mode will need to be disabled/inactive.

But before you did the PCM reset, if everything was working, you did not make any changes, and then you could not use your account in PCM, I don't know.

I checked my car to see if 'settings ---> accounts' display was available when I was using guest account. It was. If 'settings ---> accounts' display is not present, something is off and dealer visit is probably needed.

But once your primary account is created in PCM, no LTE and/or privacy mode active should not stop you from operating the car with that account.

Mine did the same yesterday as well. Account was greyed out.

I just drove on as a guest and about ten mins in to the drive it all loaded up on its own.

I know this issue and had it twice. Best thing to do, is waiting a day or so. Magic self-healing is common.
Still a very unfortunate thing.

When this happened, you had use guest account on PCM to operate your car?
Eventually you could again use your primary account?

I think it switched to guest account, yes. Didn't use PCM those days, only CarPlay.

i honestly didn’t look at the LTE symbol so don’t know what status it was sorry.

I selected Guest before pulling away so don’t know if the car can’t be operated without selecting.

I pulled over a couple of hundred meters down the road to turn the car off/on but that didn’t fix anything. When it booted up CarPlay connected so I just carried on from there. After another five/ten mins there was a system notification that the account reconnected.

I have the same issues since a few days back (about a week), started with me noticing Apple Music and Spotify was unavailable then i had no contact with the car from my Mobile App.
Porsche Center advised a Factory Reset but didn't help at all and now my primary account is gone from the car as well. Can only use the guest account.. (satellite maps worked before the factory reset also)

i had and still have 4G/LTE connection but cannot sign back in with my primary account in the car, on the web and mobile app no issues to sign in. So no issues with the password.

Any advise what i can do? (Porsche center is a few hours away so want to try everything i can before having to drive over there.)

If you have problems accessing internet-based services in your Taycan, first thing to check is if you have LTE symbol/cellular data connection in PCM.
If not, the LTE comm link needs to be restored. Many possible causes for no LTE (car hardware or software, local cellular service, Porsche back-end servers). Info and tips for dealing with no LTE are in one post linked in #2 above.

Doing a factory reset of PCM is a last resort troubleshooting option. It deletes your PCM user accounts (and usually is not the solution for restoring LTE connection.) Re-adding your primary account to PCM requires LTE, privacy mode off, your security PIN, and Porsche account registration back-end process to be working.

From the posts on here by various people having trouble adding primary account to PCM, I'd guess there is something wrong with Porsche PCM user add process affecting multiple regions. If true, options are to wait till it gets fixed, escalate with your Porsche online support people, or take car to dealer and have them re-add the user account. Dealer is unlikely to be able to fix widespread back-end outage, but maybe they can get the right attention on the problem from corporate Porsche.
