PEC @ Silverstone experience

Had my experience yesterday at Silverstone. What a great day out and incredible to put the car I've ordered through its paces. The acceleration, grip and most impressively the braking all combined to give me a head ache by the end of the day! The hospitality made it go away though. For those getting a Turbo/Turbo S - keep a stash of paracetamol in the glove box as I can't imagine the additional speed now.

I've driven a fair few cars on track before and this a seriously impressive machine, and only makes the wait that little bit harder!

Very jealous - and congratulations....

I was originally offered June, which I could not accept because of family commitments -

They kindly rearranged to August 3 - Then my wife was rushed into hospital 5 days before PEC and kept in for a week - so I cancelled again - (she is fine now thankfully - phew!).

PEC very kindly allowed to rearrange again... Their understanding and kindness is so much appreciated.......

I am now booked for December, which could be after I get my car (hopefully) - so that kinda takes the edge off PEC a little - since I may have been driving the car beforehand as my daily.

Anyways cant wait!

Just got back from PEC today in a GTS ST.

Shared the experience with a friend, who also loved it.

The instructor was great and I found out my steering wheel etiquette is woeful. That said, I still captained the Taycan like a... hero.

I did mine yesterday too, I was there for the morning session.

Drove a 4S CT with roughly similar spec to my order. Fantastic experience and as you say great hospitality

If you saw a youngish looking guy, that was me! I say that since the "Porsche demographic" was definitely present on the day - wealthy-looking 50+ guys with their wives and family.

I particularly enjoyed the kick plate track, where having never been in such a situation, I handled it like a pro....

Though with an AWD car that weighs 2.3 tonnes, it quickly dawned on me a toddler could have done it. Would love to instead try it in something light with RWD as more of a challenge.

Also did a fun manoeuvre on the three lane track where I did launch control to 70mph, then on instructions from the instructor, had to perform a hard emergency brake, then when told, turn aggressively at 45 degrees to get into the farthest of the three lanes.

Did that perfectly.

What my instructor did not like was my steering. I agree with him. My technique is not elegant, but it is effective. That's true of a lot of things in my life and might explain why I am still single.
