Phone holder solution near drivers display

Hi everybody!

Im looking for a phone holder solution with magsafe which is around there like on the picture. It is the only one that i could find on the internet (a DIY one).

Its not a mandatory to be exactly there, but maybe that would be the best position for me.

- I want it much more higher then a proclip, because if i get a message or something i dont want to look down, i think more safer if its higher

- Around vents on the left side from the steering wheel is not really work i guess, dont want to look to the left because of the same reason and vents are still down

If anybody had the same perspectives what phone holder did you choose? I dont need charging function, just a holder.

Looking for something that not block the view to the chrono cloak but maybe im asking too much with this one...

I have fitted this ESR one which is made for Teslas. It uses a 3M sticky pad and I have attached it to the back of the drivers display. I will take a picture of mine tomorrow and post it. I need to hide the wire but it seems to do the job quite well and puts the phone at eye level and away from anyone’s knees.

FE one cannot navigate in carplay and PCM simultaneously anymore.

For me, the only location, not obscuring or disturbing the design is on the left side next to the vent.
It's right in view, not disturbing the passenger space, not compromising the Taycan design.

I have an even better question - why is texting / being on your phone and driving normalised now?

If someone came here and asked how to do drunk driving, that'd be probably frowned upon, but OP is literally asking about the same thing "if i get a message or something" - you're not supposed to be reading those when you are driving and the consequences are exactly the same.

There's a reason Porsche puts the phone so far away.

I never said that I want to read long messages or texting back. Probably everybody put his eyes on the phone for half sec when getting a notification. Doing this is much more safer if i have to just turn my eyes on it and not my whole head with like a proclip.

You can see relevant notifications in Carplay/Android Auto already, you can even let it read it out for you, or reply via voice command (on Android anyway).
I do not look at my phone when driving, it goes into the wireless charger and stays there, which is the way it should be, so no - definitely not everybody.

In fact I'd say the majority of people are probably not so addicted to their phone that they can't stand not looking at it. Same as the majority of people are not so addicted to alcohol, that they can not drive without it.

Dont have experience with carplay yet. Im coming from a Tesla MY, and will get my taycan in a month. But probably you are right and i wont need my phone around there.

Understandable, yeah you won't need it.
Everything that is even remotely relevant you can see from Carplay, and if it is not there, then it is probably not something you should be doing while driving.

Sadly teslas giving a bad habit for people or for me atleast, that your are able to read a longer message or type back with only a half eye on the road becaus of autopilot, but i know its a really bad thing so want to drop that habit. Maybe the best way is just to put the phone away or let it in the pocket, maybe a pro clip and not touching it just keeping there.

In the Taycan the phone lives in the center console box, it's not in view or easily accessible when it's in the wireless charger. You'd have to really go out of your way to access it, so no danger of that there. On shorter trips it'll probably just stay in your pocket, because the Carplay is wireless.

At points, I depend on a different navigation but the PCM one.
Maps reacts to traffic jams a lot better than PCM (if at all).
On longer road-trips it already saved me hours (and I rather drive a detour than standing still on the highway).
Unfortunately PCM is not good at all in rerouting.

Oh: and I still want PCM to run navigation/ charging planner, which does not work when navigating on carplay. Porsche took that away recently.

You won't need a bracket. Your phone can live out of sight. The Porsche carplay experience is pretty seamless.

Infinitely better than the junk iphone interface Tesla fobs owners off with.
