Yes, I do have the thermally insulated windshield.. isn't that standard on all models? I think the side and rear are options? I can't recall TBH.

And no.. I don't really get many false warnings. I did at first, I believe I muted some bands. I can't remember.. that thing has been with me for ages and I wouldn't trade it in for another. I had an escort I installed w/ laser jammer on a previous 996TT.. the V1 was superior imo.

..... watch me get a ticket now :CWL:

It wasn’t standard on US J1.1 (2020-2024). It kills radar reception. The only excluded areas are tiny corners near rear view mirror (near impossible to squeeze a windshield mount radar detector, and even then, the rear reception is obstructed).

So you are probably not getting falses because your reception is muted (signal as much as 80% attenuated). You can do a quick check, drive up to a supermarket door which sets off you radar detector, note the signal strength, then open the window and stick the V1 outside and note the signal strength.

I am seriously considering mounting my V1 on the roof.

Interesting idea. Perhaps mount it on crossbars?

I'm assuming you wouldn't drill a hole, but in order to get through the roof wouldn't you have to go either front or rear glass somehow?

Curious to know if you do something like this.

I thought of crossbars, but partial to sticking it straight on glass in some enclosure, with wireless charging through glass for power, and bluetooth (already built into gen2 detector) for communications. Either VHB tape to keep it in glass, or perhaps magnets?
