Spending some time on a small canyon road that I’m familiar with to start testing out the PAR.

The section where my RS E-Tron GT had the most issues is a fast, sweeping stretch with a few undulations.

At 87 mph, compression was fine, but rebound was terrible to the point that the car nearly hopped into the oncoming lane.

I tried the Weissach in both Sport and Sport Plus modes.

It’s early to say, but Sport mode seems to be the ideal setting for canyon driving. The Active Ride feels more aggressive, almost like Normal mode, but with much more evident body-roll countermeasures.

On the same stretch of road, the Weissach’s rebound hop was noticeably mitigated, smoothing out the undulations — maybe even more so than in Sport Plus.

Sport Plus, being stiffer, delivered more road feedback but less of the distinct PAR sensation.

While taking a corner at high speed, the car felt extremely flat — the effects of PAR were much more apparent.

As I get more seat time, I’ll keep sharing my findings.

Next up is a 60-mile canyon run on Angeles Crest Highway to get a better feel for it.

We took our Turbo Sport Turismo around a couple of hundred miles of very twisty mountain roads in Spain and France recently and Active Ride was super. Passenger felt very comfortable even when I was throwing the car around tight bends at speed. Significant reduction in complaint frequency. And great in the driver’s seat too.

What is the ground clearance under the driver door when Active Ride suspension is at highest lift level? Can somebody measure this, please?

Is that different from the highest lift mode when the car is moving slowly?
There is the smart lift which other Taycans have. This is where the car lift and can drive around 20mph raised.

I measured 6" high from the driver door in this mode.

Then there is the Access lift mode for PAR that raises the car even higher for getting in an out of the car.

This was 8" high at the drivers side door in Access mode (specific to PAR)

Thanks for those measures. So if it's in "entry lift" mode, and the car is in highest-lift mode for driving, then it drops 2 inches when the car starts to move (or when the door closes)? I'm confused how that works....

My car is in lift mode because it's programmed to raise in my garage when it's on.

If it was just parked and the car was in Comfort Entry Mode (specific to PAR), the car would lift 8" when opening the door, siting in the car and closing the door, the car would go down to whatever the driving height was.

If you don't have PAR, the car is in the standard height when getting in and out of it

Active Ride leaps up when any door is opened (unless charger plugged in). When all doors are closed it sinks more gently to whatever ride height is set.

Not sure if you go all the time, but you need to be real careful about the rocks in the road after the 39 splits from the 2 after the tunnels. Maybe see you up there sometime!

Reading this I thought I'd see how many PAR STs there are for sale in the UK...and there's quite a nicely spec'd GTS for sale...

Briefly thought hmmmm 😁

Then I remembered I don't want or need to spend another £60k...
