Did @chun write that article?
Obviously, since apparently I’m the only one thinking that the Chinese market is very important for porsche ?

But it is funny that everyone is using Xiaomi as the example for “china ev”, when BYD is a far better example.

BYD doesn't have the level of "high performance" models that Xiaomi does (yet), though, do they?

Knowing Porsche they will simply charge more to delete the software. If your car is going to drive for you then China may make better cars for you. Good riddance. Leave Porsches to those of us that enjoy driving for drivings sake.

They do, they have many subbrands.

Their “supercar” is Yangwang U9.

It has active ride that’s 1000x more responsive than the one Porsche has, and they released it before Porsche. So there’s that.
1300 or so horsepower. Torque vectoring and preatty much anything else the taycan has.

500kW charging, if you charge via 2 charging ports at once.

Quite a lot of features.

Of course, cheaper than a taycan

Interestingly, i noted 4 separate news stories regarding Chinese EV companies on my news feed (financial) this morning.

I am neutrasl on all this, but I think a lot of people are really underestimating the speed of change and the scale of their ambitions.

Not looked in depth at these stories, but just notable the pace of change with China/EVs/batteries....

BYD Solid State batteries by 2027.

New mining rights in Brazil.

I agree that we should not underestimate the speed of development in China. They most likely copied a lot from the start, just like Japan in the 70 ies. Just look at what happened to the camera industry then.
But then they refine and improve designs at unbelievable speeds. And support the whole cycle with universities and schools.

A lot of car engineers fromUK and Germany earn many times the salary as consultants in Chinese carcompanies now! Look at the Xiamo that ProDrive in U.K. helped develop for the Nurburgring test. And that will be copied and refined and further improved and developed

Car industry in the West certainly have a challenge ahead.
