Hi All,

I found a 2021 demo car with 500 miles on it, offered at sticker (with a few dealer options, nothing too excessive but already tinted windows which is the bulk of it so it's whatever). I put a deposit on it last night.

The car: https://www.hendrickporsche.com/inventory/new-2021-porsche-taycan-rwd-rwd-sedan-wp0aa2y14msa18833

I have another deposit at my local dealer for a 2023 CT4 at sticker price as well, and that's spec'ed up to $122k but I have no idea when that might arrive, no allocation yet but I am #1 on the list.

This particular car piqued my interest due to the decent options (just wished it had Sport Chrono and rear wheel steer) for a 2021 sticker price. Un-punched warranty and would still get tax credit (never registered).

My question is, based on the options and spec will I regret not waiting 9ish months for my custom order CT4? Or will this be a fun car for $17k less that will provide 99% of what the CT would give me with dual motors (and same hp)? I live in the south so inclement weather is not a concern.

Thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks!

No allocation yet?
hard to believe that your dealer will get a car in next 9 month.
i’d say: take it & enjoy… you can always replace it when ”yours” arrives.

It all comes down to personal preferences. Questions I would ask myself if I were in a similar situation:

1. Do you need a new car immediately?
2. Would you also spec Black on White for your custom order CT4? Given you're seriously considering it, I assume you're at least ok with the colors. Not sure if they're your top choices though. This applies to other options but I feel colors are starters and deal breakers.
3. Is buying this and driving it until your CT4 arrives an option?

Another thing to keep in mind is that I've seen delivery estimates for a 2023 CT4 all over the place. Your wait could be shorter or (much) longer than 9 months. Plan accordingly.

Order what you want. Have the dealer buy that one back when yours arrives.

Don’t need a car immediately but this seems like a great deal. 2021 retail (sticker) and they added in a CPO warranty taking it to 5 years / unlimited.

I sold the 911 and driving my beater Volt, it’s not fun and I worry how much longer it will go without some type of repair / maintenance. Almost 120k miles and it’s a 2012. Wouldn’t want to put any money into it if I could avoid it.

Color is one that I would have taken regardless and options are close. Love the wagon but hard to get (as we all know).

Really happy with my rwd. I came from a boxster with similar acceleration and I did worry a little as I waited for it to arrive that it wouldn’t be fast enough. But it is plenty fast. With the flat torque curve, it just goes. I actually like the steering feel in the rwd too. The 4s I test drove didn’t have the feedback that the rwd has.

It’s a base stereo it looks like. Did you give it a listen?

IMHO....as others have said getting a CT4 allocation is nothing definite and 9 mos is probably the best you'll get. I am hearing 12-24 mos in some cases and no new US allocations thru the end of the current year from Porsche as logistics and supply chain issues along with the war in Eastern Europe still affects production.

So if it were me...I'd take the CPO and drive it until the CT4 allocation shows up...whenever that is! No way to tell otherwise when you'll get a car either way. Good luck!

See avatar...

Car should be delivered to me Wednesday at latest. Thanks for the advise all. Can't wait to enjoy it - though I have a meniscus tear surgery coming up and won't be able to enjoy it for long!
