I think they were annoyed I also declined their financing and paying the whole thing in cash.

I'm their worst type of customer as they're only making money on whatever is the margin BMW pays them.

Their financing was also ludicrously expensive, it would be cheaper to rent a top-of-the-range car from ONTO.
Same here?
They’ll do anything to get you to finance the car ,like you said it’s where they make money

When I told the dealer no to financing over the phone, I could almost sense them breaking. I ruined the poor guy's week.

He went from suddenly selling a car he thought had no buyer, to getting a fraction of the commission he was expecting.

Poor guy. I will send him lots of positive energy.

Not according to Sytner, so perhaps it's different depending on who the dealer is.

I specifically asked my dealer on dropping my deposit back in Feb: if there are future price increases, is the current price honoured?

Dealer: "No."
I'll ditto that with Sytner. Price is the price up until build allocation.

I actually wish I had ordered via Reading. I didn't at the time as they were quoting 3-5 months longer than Leicester (Sytner), so I went with the latter instead.

I would expect the PRG owned dealers probably would be more inclined to honour pricing based on when deposits are dropped.

Sytner work to much smaller margins so will pass on all costs and price rises...

I also wonder if Reading would have been quicker in the end where they seemed to have a surge in allocations last month - at least according to this forum.

Obviously the Dick Lovett group are different
Think i may be feeding this back. My understanding is this decision was from Porsche UK directly and not dealer specific.
Tesla and a number of others have followed suit......................

I'd be extremely surprised if ANY dealer did NOT pass on the price increase for 'orders' that do not have finalised build slots on the system. Up until that point the order is not confirmed/accepted and the paperwork you sign when you place your 'order;' makes that clear.

Just my opinion ...but the whole situation with deposits...orders....allocations should be made crystal clear by Porsche UK.
If you take PRG dealers out of the equation...because they will get preference/whether fair or not....it should be a level playing field across the remaining dealers and not pot luck regarding allocations and some that do and dont pass on price increase.

If Dave places an order and deposit 12 months ago.......and Jon places an order and deposit 6 months ago.....Dave should get his car first.......regardless of which dealer he chose to use

I have a friend who has ordered a 911 from Reading because they were supposedly going to be quicker than Tewkesbury. Whilst they might still be, his order has gradually slipped back from May/June 2022 to Q1 2023 or maybe Q2. So they might well not be quicker but just give out overly optimistic dates that they can’t fulfil. Who knows? As stated elsewhere, it is an opaque system and none of us can really say unless we put down multiple deposits and track what happens to them all.

Good Morning,

Hope all is well

There has been a recent price increase however due to your deposit being put down when it was its secured against the existing price of the vehicle so wont be affected by the most recent increase.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

?? just to confuse things further….no allocation needed
hi. Which dealer is this? I’ve asked Porsche Chester and still awaiting response. I have an allocation for October 2022. On the Porsche App I’m on stage 2/5.

Cardiff Porsche ….I’m at same stage as you ….but as email says they are honouring the price at deposits paid …the email came from their main sales executive

Email from my dealer (Porsche Reading). He confirmed that as my order was locked and scheduled for Production, I would pay the price agreed (which was at the MY23 price), and not including the recent price rise.

I've been happy with the service from there. They've been pretty honest and respond to queries in a reasonable timeframe.

Thanks. I’ve had confirmation from Porsche Chester who confirmed all orders before 15 July 2022 avoid recent price rise. All good!

Is that without an allocation?

Is Chester Porsche owned?

Sytner (Porsche Leicester) told me today I'm paying the price rises up until I've got an allocation.
