Have i missed this option when looking at configurator options or has PPF just been added. If it has been there sometime has anyone taken up this option and how good a job was it as a factory fit?

I think it's only appeared within the last few days (along with rear wiper in gloss black).

It appeared on the US configurator as a new option in early-mid September this year (and I think I may have seen it on the UK site around the same time or earlier?).

As to optioning it it really depends on your expectations and pricing. This factory application will not do wrapped ends i.e. you will see the edges of the film wherever applied which personally would drive me nuts. Doing it post receiving the car with a 3rd party using Xpel or other equivalent PPF will result in a far better finished look.

Obviously really convenient to have it applied to the factory car guaranteeing immediate paint protection but usually more expensive than 3rd parties and as said, with the unfinished edge look.

Take this with a grain of salt, but I asked my SA about factory PPF at the time I ordered my car. I was told that it wasn't available but that even if it were he would advise against it. Apparently more than one customer complained about the quality of the factory PPF installation on other Porsche models, to the point that the dealership had to make things right by having the factory film stripped off and redone locally.
