Something tells me that Porsche may be in a bit of a panic with recent increase of people cancelling orders……I got an email last week bringing forward my delivery date which cancelled the previous notification of delay to next year……..oooh to be a fly on HQ’s boardroom wall……but the only guarantee will be when/if the keys are put in my hand…

I have a GTS order in place, locked in April and my dealer indicated an August delivery, and then no communication at all. I decided that I'd cancel 2 weeks ago. Emailed the dealer who frantically called me back after the weekend, saying oof course I could cancel, expressing surprise I hadn't heard anything from Porsche since my car was built and sitting in Emden awaiting shipment. I was initially told that I'd have to wait for the dealer to sell the car before I'd get my deposit back, but then some haggling persuaded me to continue with the purchase, now expecting to take delivery... sometime ?
... and just had the dealer call to say it's now with them and I can collect when ready! Shame I'm away from UK at the moment ?‍♂

Thank you all - constructive and useful feedback. I’ve started the discussion (emailed) and will speak to them tomorrow. There are very similar spec’d cars on approved, c.5 months old/4K mileage for £20k less than my brand new. Worst case scenario I loose some/all of my deposit but as much as this is gutting it may just be one to take on the chin. I’ll certainly name (but hopefully not shame) the dealer once the discussion has concluded… fingers crossed!!
The discussion with the dealer is the way to go, however, I'm unclear if you are trying to purchase a used Taycan or go in some other direction altogether.

Assuming you want to purchase an attractively optioned used Taycan, then I'd mention that to the dealer. They will likely be happy to apply your deposit to that purchase. Purchasing directly from the dealer should also give you some peace of mind that the car you're buying is in great shape.

Good luck and keep us posted!

How did this work out?

Im now in a similar situation. Only ordered in September (CT4) and had build complete notification at the weekend. Text from dealer yesterday saying on way and will be in touch when arrives re a delivery date.

In readiness I’ve updated my selling quotes. Initially back to dealer (it’s a Velar) and then on motorway. The value has gone down 8 grand since I ordered the car 6 weeks ago. That is a huge unexpected impact.

I haven’t done a recent insurance quote either and am absolutely dreading it (was £880 in September)

I don’t want to cancel - but this does impact the purchase quite a lot. So interested to explore options.

I had an email offering £5k off a new Taycan delivered before the end of December - which will obviously dealers wanting to clear existing new stock because that is too soon for one self specced.
