I had a Tesla M3P before my GTS Taycan and I remember Tesla was able to give us a bit of a bump in HP AND a increase in range with a software upgrade. Anyone hopeful Porsche might be able to help us early adopters at all with something similar?

If they will, and I believe they will not, it will cost you. Maybe something like a FoD or a paid software update.

Porsche already did their voodoo with decoupling the front motors. I dont think that they would do anything more at this point which would “eat into” the Gen 2’s improvements over Gen 1….just not a good business decision. Strap in for the long haul of status quo.

This says about 4% of the increase in range comes from "optimized drive and recuperation strategy" - and presumably the only potential source for improvements on the J1 I.

Whole vehicle optimization (mass, aerodynamics, rolling resistance) +14 %

Optimized drive and recuperation strategy +4 %

Increased efficiency drivetrain +5 %

Higher battery capacity +11 %

Total +34 %

If they just reduced the buffer and opened more of the battery that would be a quick win.

Agree. I’m compiling a list of almost free features that Porsche could give our GEN one folks to help recognize that they took a huge leap with their first GEN product. These things wouldn’t cost Porsche much at all, but would go along way for Goodwill..

1. Range update would be a good first start.
2. update the Dash to include the new battery indicator in the third dial on the left that we see in the new GEN two cars.
3. Include intelligent range manager for free just like they do in the new cars.
4. Provide an upgrade path to add the second passenger display so the passenger can watch, movies, etc..
5. At some point in the future, it would be amazing to see a battery upgrade path for G1 users to add significantly more range..

What else?

Option for a battery swap would be appreciated

Assuming that would work.. it's clear they changed the cooling passages, and perhaps other physical aspects/dimensions as part of the revised drivetrain - but, if the outer shape/dimensions/interfacing points/contacts remained unchanged, a retrofit would be trivial. (It would also mean they planned on this. I'm not keeping my hopes high, but it's not inconceivable, either.)

Didn't Pre-2023 models get the same software enhancements that rolled out with the 2023 models? Adjusted charge curve, decoupling of the motors (as mentioned above), etc.?

I just completed my first road trip on my 2020 4S and sure enough the charge curve seemed to match the "new" curve that was reported. Hard to tell about range improvements from decoupling though since my drive style tends to fit a "conservatively spirited" description. I'll set Innodrive to 70 - 80 mph and then once in a while step on it a bit.
