There is a big difference between someone asking how to do something versus someone just giving negative opinions and rude comments...

Don't you agree?
Forums are a place to exchange ideas and express opinions. If you are looking for a place where people don't express their opinions I'd suggest looking somewhere other than an internet forum of any kind.

Civility is important but we all buy cars based on our "opinions" of what is important. Personally I enjoy hearing peoples opinions about which features they feel are important, what they like, etc. Especially when they are willing to explain why something is important to them or how they feel about different options.

I think the point Honeybee is alluding to is that opinions are fine, so long as they are implemented appropriately and properly. Saying that someone is a douchebag for enjoying the look of a spoiler is not really a welcome or necessary opinion - on that I think we can all agree.

Quite literally, OP did not ask what anyone thought about keeping the spoiler up, only how to do so.

I agree with this. It is not the fact that someone has an opinion, but how the opinion is expressed. No need to be rude here or get into chest thumping contests that seem to be more frequent. How pathetic. That said, merely having a contrary opinion is not rude.

I think that manually operating a spoiler is, well, silly unless it is malfunctioning. It automatically works to serve the purpose for which it was designed. Manually deploying a Porsche spoiler seems to me like a flex that will not really impress anyone who knows, and why would you try to impress anyone who doesn't? As a joke once many years ago, I left a note on a Porsche that always parked with the spoiler manually extended saying that I was sorry the car was apparently malfunctioning and providing the contact information for the local mechanic. I'm too old and lazy to care anymore.

Funny story, and the last thing I'll say on the subject; I don't see how having spoiler up is a flex. It's a couple hundred dollar option on most cars. I think the Porsche emblem is a flex enough, no? Anyone go through the trouble of removing it??

For those who may be new to Porsche, know that the ‘extended spoiler at rest or low speed’ is a long time pet peeve of the Porsche owner community. Post a for sale ad on Rennlist or Planet 9 with the spoiler up and the first five responses you get will be to tell you to put the spoiler down. The spoiler up is viewed as the equivalent of walking around with a popped collar. Not saying it’s wrong or right, just that it’s a common opinion among Porschephiles and will always generate a response on the forums.

Well I Disagree with you. Forum's aren't meant for opinions. There for people to ask questions and find out information or share information.
If you want to give your opinions go to Facebook.
At least we post pics of our Cars and have Avatars.
Your Blank mystermykee.
If you don't have anything Positive to say Don't say anything at all.
Ohhh boy....ok. You're basically telling everyone on a public car forum to not post if their content is not "nice." Good luck.
Does everyone really need to see another picture of an ice grey metallic 4S on black Mission-Es?

Well, I didn't specifically call the OP a D bag-that's inappropriately and improperly rude. If someone asked a question akin to that of leaving an active aero spoiler extended, say like whether it's possible to change the electric sport sound to something that sounds more like a Honda VTEC engine--they're going to get more than just a simple yes or no.

Is that the Only way you feel like a big man is constantly putting people down and saying Rude things?
Were you beat up a lot as a kid? Or just in a relationship where your not the boss?
You should just really take a breath before you criticize everyone all the time.

No, sir. Don't say everyone. I've only criticized you. I'm truly sorry for hurting your feelings.

You didn't criticize me. You did that to someone else.
I don't like the way you speak to people. Others think the same.
Have a good day.

I ask again, are you new to the Internet? Or just a touch sensitive?

Nothing he said was particularly harsh or offensive. If you’re gonna overreact to this thread, you may want to avoid the Interwebs as much as possible.

New Taycan owner here.

I do like the look of the car with the spoiler up. But also do appreciate the auto-adjustment depending on speed. As a previous 911 owner I get it.
